Since the ones i wanted are no longer made (p99, p226) and the FN five-seven is over a grand out of my budget at $2500ish.
I'd rather buy a M4 super 90 if im spending that much on a gun...know what i mean.
I can't find a more original style black browning 1911 with brown trim without all the fancy ugly designs or sparkles on it (those decorated ones are ugly imo).
Id like to know how the glocks are. Im looking at these on Wolverines site.
Glock G22 Gen 4 .40 S&W 4.6" Fixed Sights Black
Glock G48 9mm 4.18" Compact Fixed Sight FDE
Pros and cons pn those? I know nothing of glocks, i like the Austrian made part... the price on those works for me.

Which P226 do you want that is discontinued ?

Springfield Milspec comes pretty close to plain 1911, except for slanted rear grooves on slide.

Regarding G48 vs. other glocks, it depends if you prefer single stacks to double stacks. For my hands, I prefer single stacks like 1911, Sig P239, so the G48 fits a lot better. Also, considering our 10 round limit the G48 is a much slimmer gun and you don't have 'wasted' space in a neutered magazine.

G22 is a full size glock and in .40, similar to a G17. G48 is like a slimmer G19 (compact model).

P99 still made as the P99AS, there's a fellow listing one on EE

Thank you for that info. Really helps me understand the difference. What you say makes total sense to me re the G48 stack. I didn't even think of that.

Huh? Which model...

I swore that's what i saw, was looking them up and kept seeing no longer in production.. which stumped me. I assumed maybe they replaced it with something new. I haven't havent kept current on handguns to be honest. I see wikipedia says it's still in production.

Nothing wrong with buying everything you want! Go for it.
I do not own these guns but have shot them a fair bit.

For me:
Cons of the G48 is the tiny gun and really terrible trigger.
Cons of G22 is that it isn't a G35
Cons of P226 depends on your budget

My personal opinion, in that order of preference would be

#1 P226
#2 something else
#3 something else
#4 something else
then G35, G48

I guess the P226 would be at the upper range of my budget. Ill keep those things in mind re the glocks.
What's good about the g35?

The G48 is a nice gun. The grip circumference is smaller than the standard double stacks on the market. If you like the P99 you should look at the PPQ M2 in my opinion it feels better and has probably the best stock trigger on the market. I had a G22 and I was not a fan of the 40 cal. I do not reload so the price of ammo made me sell it. The advantage the G35 has over the G22 is the longer sight radius. The felt recoil and muzzle flip will be less as well on the 35. I have owned a lot of Glocks and the main advantage is the amount and style of aftermarket parts. To work on the gun and strip it down takes only minutes and its quite easy.

I would suggest to skip the glock 48 as a first handgun I am proficient and it is a difficult gun to shoot well. If you have an interest in glock 22 I would suggest the glock 17. Same gun but in 9mm also suggest a gen 5 as the trigger stock tends to be better

I looked up the PPQ m2. Yup yup yup!! I want. Canada shootingcenter says $735, but out of stock. I'll have to check with wolverine see if they can get them in.
The ability to strip down a glock is attractive, i like that. So
want to look into them a bit more, particularly the g35.

Cost of ammo doesn't matter for me since i reload.
The only pistol caliber i have is .44 mag which i only care to shoot out of my mares leg.

I'll have to see if wolverine can get the ppq m2 then.

Decision made. Wolverine can get me ppq!. Thanks for the input. Thanks for letting me know of the ppq.
On backorder.

I have had Glocks and Walthers and prefer Walthers. The P99 and PPQ series are excellent, but I can't speak to the new PDP line as I have no experience with them. I have had several Glocks and I think it comes down to personal preference. Glock has an advantage over most modern auto's in the aftermarket and parts availability categories. They are just like cars, you have to test them to see if they suit you and perform as expected.

I have a feeling I will end up with one of each. Walther in 9mm is first then a Glock in the same or different cartridge. But going for the Walther first. The only handgun holding experience in any form I have is when I owned a Maruzen P99 gas blowback airsoft gun back in 2007 (replica at the time, looked identical to the real deal in pictures) and I can say it was very comfortable to hold, the grip felt great in the hand. If a real PPQ feels anything similar to that at all then I'm sure i'll like the feel.
