Replacement 1911 recoil spring plug not working

Hi,

I was cleaning my Para PXT Super Hawg a while back (longslide 6" barrel), and the recoil spring plug got away from me. After scouring my tiny apartment again and again, I've accepted the fact that it's gone forever.

I order a replacement from DoubleTap Sports, but after assembling the pistol and racking the slide, the recoil spring stays compressed. I've tried to contact Para-USA many times (I guess they're owned by Remington now?). But their phones don't seem to work and they don't reply to my emails.

Anyone have any advice? After some internet research, I've learned that 1911s can have either full-length guide rods or shorter ones. I think my pistol has a full-length one. Do longslide 1911s have unique plugs?

Any advice would be great. Thanks,

If you have a full length guide rod, you need a open ended plug. Have a picture to show? But with a solid cap , it should lock up the slide.
Rod wedging in the cap would be my guess. (for a Full length rod)

Im out of town right now, and don’t have a picture. But I remember it’s a closed-end plug. The lost one was open-ended, so that makes sense. Thanks
