Revolver, 1911 or Plastic - Pick two!

I had a plastic pistol once.
It was made by Mattel.
I was five at the time.
Haven't owned a plastic gun since.
Bloody Hell!! You remind me that I don't even had a plastic gun when I was five. I need to buy one to refill my childhood's dream. Where did you buy that Mattel? Are they any good
Anyhow I vote for the Revolver and 1911 are a must.

Definately Revolver and 1911, started with a Model 22 .40 glock thought it was nice, till I shot a 1911 .45 ... it was like... wow this is not just a gun... its kinda like a paper punching god.... after that I was a 1911 man through and through. Wheel guns are great for anything plastic is nice for tupperwear and holsters for pistols or groceries... Yah plastic is good for groceries but that is because you cannot get paper bags anymore.
I have both a 1911 .45 and a SAA .45 revolver. The tourists who shoot with me prefer the revolver, but I personaly LOVE my Springfileld GI .45. Put 1000+ and the only jams were my fault for using ####ty loads or bad cleaning habits. 1911s rule!!

Agreed....
Although I have actually tried a glockinspiel once at the range, the event left me dull and listless, just my opinion.
Others may really like these...not me though, old Colts (1911 and sixgun) S&Ws wheelguns.

This was my thinking...but if I was allowed to own absolutely anything in relation to pistols then it would be a SigP226 with a sound suppressor, a standard frame 1911, and a selectfire Glock 19(w/ optional suppressor)1911 and P226 - the wife and kids get the tupperware
Otherwise it would just be the Sig P226, and 1911A1...no revolvers

While I do have two plastic guns (ruger 45's) the other 58+ are not.
Revolvers? Webleys, Adams, Tranters, Kynoch, Hill, Colt clones, S&W's and pizza S&W's (Schofields) Taurus, and a Reising .22 auto plus a couple of Walthers and three Canadian HiPowers

ah yes must have revolvers, I have a few, but nothing like John's collection
I have enfield revolvers, S&W victory, a few .22's and S&W 28, and ruger Security six in .357.
I dont have a 1911 but I have John Browning's other auto, a Browning Inglis HP, and its ugly sister a FN HP (with waffenstamps)
but I'm really a rifle kind of guy

Which two of the three would you guys say are more must have?
Note: of course you can have another semiauto other than 1911 or plastic.
Gotta have the Holy Trinity: 1911 in .45, revolver in .357/.38 & a double stack 9mm in metal (like your Sig 226 - don't sell it) That's the starting point and then you start your collection

polymer - only for 9mm, and then the 40 as a second
suggest you add to the survey, question on the age group, younger than 20, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, over 50
I am curious to know if it is the older members like me who started with revolvers, then 1911, and then as last additions, the polymers.
I think the polymers choices are indeed with the younger shooters who had such buying options when starting out.
Thing about plastics, though not disposibles or throwaways like a bic lighter, and whether picked as 1st choice or last, are still more likely to be sold or traded first than the classics.
Just got into glocks this year, and buying my first kydex rigs, not much for looks, but great on function.
Still, if I have to choose, I pick leather over kydex, blued steel over the black jiffy marker finish, wood grips over plastic.... as I look forward to an early pension. LOL

... or you could "try" to imagine that the Sig is my S&W Model 10 (It's not ###y enough for pics.) that I would sell if I didn't have so much buckshee .38 ammo to shoot off.
You could choose the 1911.
I hear tell some old timers still shoot flintlocks too....
