Marstar, would you consider bringing in Norinco 97 bullpups?

Would you buy this bullpup from Marstar?

Lever Arms
Model: Type 97 / Caliber: .223 / Price: $1450.00

"Hurry, only a few in stock!"

To be fair (like I always am) Levers cost on getting a few of these would be alot more than Marstar ordering 500+.

... it's also supply and demand...you want one, you will pay for it.
When the M305s were scarce the price was hitting $700.........

There is no way it's worth $1500. $800 tops...but it's Ugly....

Price list form Chinese website:

type 92 Pistol (CF98 in leverarms) 1186 CYN = 162 $
type 56-2 Rifle (AK47) 638 CYN = 87 $
type 95 Rifle (5.8mm version type 97) 4000CYN = 548 $

type 85 sniper rifle (SVD) 3988 CYN = 546$
type 88 sniper rifle (5.8mm version type 97 sniper rifle) 9762 CYN = 1336$

These price are offer to Chinese Army or police department, almost cost price. I dont imagine any dealer can get.

By the way, I like type 97 too but I wont buy a rifle which cant hunting. So I'm waiting for Type 97 sniper rifle. anyone interset in it? I hope the retail price in canada dont over 2000$

non restricted or im not interested

All Type-97A's are restricted due to barrel length; the only way we'll be getting non-restricted ones is if someone here starts manufacturing longer barrels.

The "sniper" version (QBU-88) comes in 5.8 only, which China does not export.

The 'sniper' version looks wierdly FN ish for a bullpup. Given that the standard uses the same guts, conversion to .223 can't be that tough. Remember that Norinco converted the AK to .223 for the civillian market.
Wish they'd do the same with the SKS. I'll probably buy a t-97 if the price is manageable, restricted or not.

China do export, the type 88 has 5.56 version, which called type 97 sniper rifle.

left to right, they all 5.56
type 97 short barrel, type 97 standard and type 97sniper rifle,

Well, there does seem to be some interest in this rifle even if the "poll" doesn't allow "no, I don't want one"! :runaway:

This was brought up about 2 months ago also: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=184372&highlight=lever&page=5

A few didn't agree with my price comparison between Lever Arms and Marstar to get a M97 price of $829. but I don't see paying more especially with the Canadian dollar being up.

I'll pay up to 1000 for a non-res version

you never know, with a big enough order they might just weld on a longer flashhider or something; god knows labour ain't exactly expensive in China.
Problem: welding anything on the end of the barrel doesn't change the legal barrel length in Canada. You would have to replace the entire barrel OR have it sleeved. Both options would add a considerable amount to get you a non-restricted gun. But people have done it with the Beretta Storm and the M1 Carbine.

I think John is out of town for another week.
Doesn't everyone take a laptop with them when travelling? Gotta have a means to get on CGN!

I might be interested in the "sniper" version if the price was right. And of course you could always have the barrel cut down to 18.5" as it looks quite a bit longer.

Would the barrel threads be the same as an AR15 thread thus same brakes, etc.?

I have friend in importing business.

Things are not that easy.

You have to pay the shipping from China to Canada, import tax, of course, the famous "slow boat"....

I think we are scaring away importors with our price demand...

Nor 97

I'm getting one as soon as I can get some space on one of my credit card.
I talked to Jer. this morning an he said Lever is the sole dist. for the 97.

Man! Okay... ha ha ha ha ha, phew, I think I got it under control

Apparently you've never dealt with China, or Lever for that reason.

NO ONE IS EVER THE SOLE DISTRIBUTOR FOR A CHINESE MADE PRODUCT!!!

Did by chance they mean that they are the "current sole stocker" of the 97?

I bet a month ago they would have told you they were the sole distributor of the M14S!

I highly doubt that. The Chinese will copy or sell anything to anybody. All it takes is the cash.

HA ha HA

i'VE DEALT AT Levers for about 30+years off an on, I'm not one to judge very quickly.
I just repeated what I was told, time will tell if your laughter was justified.

X2, look at chinese military exportation, everything can be purchased, guns, planes, ships, armored vehicles. You have money, you will get it. And since Marstar deals with them on a larger scale, who do you think can get a better deal out of it?

Marstar brings these in at their pricing and I'll buy one without hesitation.

+2, and if it is the proper non-restricted version.

+2, as China will sell to anyone with a pulse, and a bank account.
Also last I checked the ones at lever were the restricted type 95 carbines (ones with the fugly flash suppressor).

Blah to that, I want the type 97. :)

but Lever always get the cool toys FIRST! Even the Type 92 pistol and now the type 97s. I thought Lever do has his OWN way to access Norinco's warehouse:D

Johnone needs to hire someone who can speak Mandarin and station in Peking/Beiji?
