@Irunguns get in here and let us throw money at you
Why wasnt this done decades ago? Why are you talking about submitting a gun to the rcmp lab now in times of ban fever? This is clearly a generational problem. Shame on boomers and millennials for disappointing everyone. At least they lived in a pro gun time but did nothing with it. F them.
Because the CETME L is still pretty new on the commercial market ?
It has a short service life and was somewhat unreliable due to some poor engineering on CETMEs part, which are things Marcolmar (and to a lesser degree HMG) have both worked to improve in their versions of the CETME L with Marcolmar going out of their way and tweaking the magwell and re engineering the springs to provide better function over an original CETME L.
You cant blame people for not doing something in the past when its still so new.
Im more interested in the comment made earlier about a CETME L at the lab since January 2020, I really hope they did not confuse the Modelo A in the lab since January 2021, I strongly hope that both of these are in fact at the lab and a lack of FRT info published yet at least means they havent been disqualified yet.
I remember B-wing (Mot manufacturing) making a post saying that he was hopefully gonna have some sort of news shortly in regards to his CETME A at the lab though so yeah, fingers crossed and dont be a sour grape.
I received a call from the RCMP wanting to ship my gun back via purolator on the 10th. I haven't received it, nor have I had any further contact with them since. Also, there is no FRT update to it either. I'm going to contact them on the 28th to see what's up, as that is when the 120 day review period ends.
I got to handle the entire MarColMar collection of CETME rifles at ShotShow2020, the conversation with that group back then was the same FRT/classification drama as mentioned in previous post.

Many years ago I bought into the alpha for Day Z standalone. Took what 7 years to finish it? I swore I would never buy into another thing like that.
I’ll eat my words if this comes in as NR.

I don't suppose you are able to elaborate?
Also, a good reference:

If the HMG CETME L was submitted to the RCMP, it doesn't stand a chance. But if the Marcolmar version was submitted, then I'd say it's got a 50/50 chance.
Don't CETME up for disappointment
I spoke with John at Marstar and they confirmed that they submitted a Marcolmar Cetme L to the lab in January 2020, they didnt say much but they confirmed that the project was something that they are still working on and it hasnt been shelved.
Its my understanding that imported firearms take a longer time in the lab compared to domestic production so at 1 and a half years and it not being given a PROHIBITED frt report I would say thats at least somewhat hopeful
