Winchester Model 1884 chambered in .38-55.

So this came home with me today - Winchester Model 1884 chambered in .38-55. The serial number says she was made in 1897. Action is smooth and tight , the bore while not bright and shiny (let's see how shiny you'd be after 125 years) has no visible pitting and rifling is still sharp. 26" round barrel, I really wanted the octagon but you just don't find a lot of them at a reasonable price. Just ordered new dies, brass and bullets - can't wait to take her to the range.

Pl slug your bore.
Many are oversize and require larger diameter bullets, but they won't chamber with Winchester brass.
The long Starline brass is the kind to use.
