Glock 44 22lr advice

Anyone have any advice on the new model glock 44 22lr or any recommendations on a good pistol chambered in 22lr? Just looking for something I can get out and shoot more with the cheaper priced ammo than 9mm
 
Nothing against Glocks but I think you would be better served with a Ruger Mk IV. It's very accurate, lots of mods if you want to go that way, easy to take apart to clean. It's a bit more than the Glock but I think you would get more out of it. There are lots of various Ruger .22's on the EE for reasonable prices as well if you don't want to go new. I suggested the Mk IV because some people have trouble disassembling the previous models. It's very easy with the Mk IV.

I have owned a Glock 44, Smith and Wesson Victory and a Ruger Mark 4. The only one that I sold was the Glock. It was fun to shoot and I had no malfunctions. The Ruger and Smith and Wesson are target pistols that are very accurate out to distance. The Glock is a great training aid if you have a Glock 19 and don't want to burn through 9mm ammo. I would strongly suggest that you head to your local gun shop to actually hold these guns and see what you like. Either the Mark 4 or Victory would be a great addition to your collection. I was able to buy them off the equipment exchange for a great deal.

Ok thanks for recommendations guys, ya maybe I'll head over to my local gun shop and get a feel for the right pistol, it's more for training as I only started shooting pistol a few month's ago, would the Taurus tx22 be a good pistol do you think?

Nitroxace has it right. If you have a 9mm Glock and want a cheaper training gun then the 44 is the answer. If you're just after a cheaper trainer in general than there are plenty of good options.
 
I'm with Nitroxace on this one.
Also, you can get conversion kits.

After trying many semi auto .22lr handguns, the ones that perform best and most reliably are the ones that were designed from the ground up to be .22lr guns. Full size imitations just lack something.
 
My glock 44 has been quite reliable. The trigger isn't great.
I haven't had stellar accuracy but I haven't cared. I bought it to teach my kids to shoot pistol and we shoot from 5 yards or less.
 
i bought mine as a trainer for my G19 and G17.

but if i didnt have those i would be looking else where for a first time 22.
there are just a lot better options out there:
Browning Buckmark (my fav)
Ruger (any of them but the prices are climbing up there)
S&W Victory
Walther (specially if your thinking of getting a 9mm in the same)

That's my opinion as well. Funny thing, though... I (deliberately) don't mention that fact to any new people, and they don't seem to be aware of it.

If a good trigger is what a guy wants (and assuming that he doesn't care about similarity with Glocks), a High Standard Supermatic Trophy would be a better bet.

I actually liked the trigger setting in this way. It is a quite good simulation of the G19 in almost every aspect. 44 might not be accurate to first-time non-Glock users without specific training but is quite accurate in the Glock shooters' hands. And that adds more fun and challenge to the shooting experience :)
