Hey Gunnutz,

We now have Squib Rods available on our website!

Squib rods are a very handy tool to keep in your range bag. They can be used to push a stuck case out of your chamber or a stuck bullet out of your barrel. They also make a great tool to help new shooters "examine the bore" on their pistol rather than looking down the barrel. These Squib Rods are made from solid brass which will help protect your barrel from damage. Each order ships with two rods. One for .22 to .32 calibre and one for .357 (9mm) to .45 calibre. They are approximately 9" long.

Don't let something as simple as a stuck case ruin your range day!

Only $16.99 for a set of two!

Simple neat tool!

The looking down the bore thing is always a point of contention.. some ranges encourage it, some ban it entirely..

I've seen new shooters really struggle with "examining the bore" when proving firearms safe. At my club we encourage the use of a tool like this to all shooters. It really does make the process a lot easier.

Thank you,

Thats exactly how we were taught in my PAL course - you can't break the 180 degree barrier while proving the gun during the practical exam, so for anything other than the break action shotgun you had to run a cleaning rod down the bore from the muzzle end, while ensuring the gun stayed pointed in a safe direction. Well, you had to pretend to run a cleaning rod down the bore, they didn't actually have 20 noobs stuffing a cleaning rod down their demo guns. lol

Although honestly I don't think I've ever used that method IRL...

Don't leave a nice brass squib rod like that at the bottom of your range bag until the day it's needed, lest you discover that the life it'd had down there has led to it now being just slightly curved so it won't go down a pistol bore. Don't ask me how I know this!

I just received my order today and these are great. My main purpose for these are actually for cease fire at my range as we need something to put through the barrel to show its clear, I'll probably wrap the ends of the rods with orange tap so its easier to see.

*disclaimer* yes the mags will be removed from the gun when i'm proving them clear at cease fire at the range. Just wanted to grab a quick picture before work to show you guys.

hmm perhaps there could be another edition/version put out with chamber flags, or market a chamber flag clip/slide on attachment.

That would be a great dual-purpose accessory addition to a range bag

Maybe a little round slot or clip to fit the rod through, so you can still use it as a squib rod, offer multiple colours, have spaces for stickers or logos

That's a good suggestion. What do you think about a 3D printed flag? I should be able to design it so it slides over the brass rod snug enough to hold in place. If that's acceptable it would be very affordable too.

I ended up putting some bright red heat shrink tubing I had kicking around and put it on each end. I will be buying some more of these for some Christmas gifts. These are priced perfectly and everyone should have a set.

100%

i also like the heat shrink tubing idea shown above

Just a question. How are these any different than a piece of brass rod from the hardware store?

It’s like asking what’s the difference between buying coffee and making it at home. One is the convenience of going out and purchasing it when you need it, the other is grinding your beans, heating your water, and pouring it yourself.

One is made by a professional, the other is made by a hobbyist. Which one is better depends how good a hobbyist you are. Lol

Not any different at all. The right diameter, right length is all you need.
I choose to support a firearm related Canadian business in these tough times. Not that my measly two bits helps much but it's more than nothing.
Please don't think this a call out or anything like that, just putting my thoughts out there.
