German K98 Value?

Hey Gunnutz,

I've got a Russian capture K98. It's got the Nazi markings still visible and the bolt and receiver numbers match but the base plate does not, and it has what looks to be the original sling. Good condition overall I think, not beat to crap. I've never fired it since buying it.

What are these things going for these days?

Depends on the receiver markings, overall conditions, whether parts being correct. Vary between 800-1600.

I agree - seems to be a difficult concept for some people - what a person paid for an item yesterday or 10 years ago, means nothing about what a buyer would be prepared to pay for it today. What a buyer would pay today is usually based on condition - perhaps markings, perhaps rarity - certainly what it is that the buyer knows (or does not know). But often have a buyer who simply must have the item, for whatever reason, and has the money on hand to do so, at most any price, and then discovers afterwards that it was not such a bargain, after all...
