Mystery percussion pistol

Hello all.
This piece has now departed this world. I'd love to know what it was. Seems European. Cuts in strap suggest a shoulder stock. Bore is about 5/8". Speculations?

At a glance I would say Central European, mid-19th Century, likely a Cavalry piece.

The checkering is not original.

Yes, the hole is for attachment of a stock.

Wrong. The checkering is ORIGINAL.

Sixty five caliber bore means a mold of .625 or .63 is required and a cotton patch.
Juicy little load. Many howdah pistols were pretty much this size.
Nice find.
