I was in the U.S. recently and had a chance to fondle one of these. I can't say that I was really impressed with it and I really wonder why Canada Customs went with this sidearm. Does any police force out there have these? Seems to me the M&P and especially the XD are better pistols (an opinion I base solely on fondling as I did not fire the PX4).

Does anyone know what model customs went with? There are apparenlty two models. One has a lever that serves as a safety and decocker lever where the other apparently is only a decocker.

I wonder if there are any of these guns in Canada other than with customs? I know the barrel length makes it 12.6 but I wonder if anyone like Questar is planning to bring any in with longer barrels. I have friends who work for customs who are interested in getting them privately.

I'd get one almost immediately should somebody decide to bring them in. The Px4 is a pretty bad-ass looking gun.

Kind of hypocritical that a Canadian agency would go out of it's way, considering all of the restricted - not prohibited - guns they could have brought into Canada instead of the Px4.

I agree, they are nice guns however, they aren't balanced well in weight and just don't seem to be better than other options that again as mentioned earlier to firearms they could own privately and practice on like a Beretta 92FS, Glock 17/22, SiG 226/229. Any of those would have been a better choice in my opinon. Then again, they look modern and

they went with it because it passed all the tests, with flying colors, unlike all the other guns submitted.
the gun they have is DAO, with mag safety, slick slide (since it's DAO). although I'd heard some got slides with levers, but not sure if that's true or not. It is a very accurate gun and it soaks up recoil well. it's also fairly cheap.

it would be interesting to see what type of testing and what guns they tried out. I'm a big Beretta fan, but find it hard to believe that the PX4 was the best choice.

Slavex, sounds like you just described the M&P line :p

Its quite possible the PX4 really was the best out of the lot as I haven't heard much about them.

I got a Cougar, the only one in .45 in Canada, and the only civilian owned Cougar in Canada. there are a few .40 and 9mm (I think 9mm) Cougars in various police inventories.
I am still waiting for my PX4 ahhahahahaha, we'll see.

the px4 barrle is 4 inches, your pals would have to ger the px4 SD with a longer barrel and built to SOCOM specs. i have been wiating for them to come in

I'll be the first in line. That is a bad ass gun. I'll have to put my 90-two plans aside if these come in.

Buddy the PX4 .45 SD (the only verison legal in Canada from the factory) is not even in production yet, period.

I saw and played with teh SOCOM at Milipol a couple of months ago and was told we should be seeing them in Canada sometime in mid 2008.

We do have them on order.

There are 4 models of the PX4 Storm 9mm... C, D, F, and G

The F & G are sold in the US for civilian... DA (single, double).
There is also a C & D model sold to Law Enforcement (DAO).

The CBSA went with the D model as I'm told the "C" version wasn't available at the time they were evaluating and deciding.

The "C" model is a short trigger, lighter trigger pull, DAO (double action only), law enforcement version.

We have the custom barrels finished for these guns and expect the first shipment of DA (double/single) models in 9mm to start arriving within 30 to 60 days. Pricing is not yet finalized but will be posted on our website by end of the month.

For more details on these various models go to:
