Great looking gun, looks to be ideal for upland shooting (depending on the weight). I've never heard of a "swastika eagle" and I don't see them clutching a swastika on the proof marks in the photos, or do I? In any case, they are well hidden.

Here we go again.......

Lol.

Looks like someone assembled their collection only based on current condition, never original quality. But like the other two, I’ll make a guess and say he won’t be happy with the collective wisdom that gets expressed.

The "Reichsadler" is the German eagle symbol. During the Nazi period, a swastika was part of the emblem. No evidence of any swastikas with the eagles on this shotgun. I believe that the current version is the "Bundesadler".
Suhl was in the area of Germany occupied by the Soviets, so 1946 was the first year of Soviet occupation.

Interesting gun, with a interesting story
- Kind of surprise they were still producing quality hunting gun that late ine the war

One the trigger plate screw looks buggered?
Weird that they went through the trouble of engraving the screws inside the forearm, but didn't center the pattern?

Thanks for sharing :) I have no idea on value :p

I’m in agreement with BB. Weight is important for us to understand this gun. Is it a lightweight game gun suitable for carrying it all day, or is it a sturdier, heavier model, great for the blind and ducks over decoys?

My Sauer 12 gauge comes in at 6 1/4 pounds. Great upland gun that is valued by SxS enthusiasts. The sidelock styling is identical to the larger heavier models produced in the same era that command about half the price. You can’t tell them apart from pics.

I’m not sure fine craftsmanship was super high on the agenda in Suhl in 1945/1946. Maybe finding enough food was extra hard that day.

Exact weight of it is 3150 grams(7 pounds) and 2 Imp/Mod chokes would not be ideal for the upland hunting, more for the waterfowl I guess, but only with a bismuth loads
Bores non-chromed

You're right I guess, I carelessly read it as what is so often seen, ie improved cylinder / modified. Although the existing combo would be good to great in open country, let's say in SK for pheasant, I take back what I said and now say the gun is seriously flawed. :)

I have an anschutz germania 22 rifle made in late 1941 -1942 that has the eagle proof marks. The proof marks are an eagle over a N for nitro proof .The eagle over a swastika proof mark was reserved for military weapons I believe
