I'm looking for suggestions for an IPSC race holster for a Sig P226 (yes I know I'm already handicapping myself with the Sig).

The only company I know of that makes a P226 specific race holster is Speedsec.

I'm looking for any other suggestions, P226 specific or not.

Thanks

Thats the wrong attitude my friend!

If I have learnt anything over the past few years, it is that it is mostly the shooter that will determine scores. Put any gun in the hand of a master... and he will not be moving much.

Also, alot of new shooters think that they need the newest fad and gadgets to be "good". It's quite fun to watch the frustration on their face (been there myself) when they realise that its themselves they need to improve.

That being said, if you ever want to shoot in the US, you may want to consider a more conventional holster, such as a BladeTech. In the US, production shooters cannot shoot from a race rig. Also a plus if you ever decide to venture into IDPA.

Good luck!

Well I think that in production, with a P226, I'm climbing an uphill battle against the people with the CZ's, and Tangfolios.

Thanks everyone else for the suggestions.

try the Sig for a while. I know you like the SIg for its reliability and accuracy. I like the HK for that, and was hung up on it for a long time. I still like my HK's, but I am really liking my Tanfoglio. The Stock/stock2 in my limited experience (1800-2100rds), has had no major problems and allows me to be more accurate than my HK. The only Hk I consider in the next year would be the P30-L in 9mm. Think "HK USP with an ergonomic makeover".
Holsters are more personal preference, but you can't go wrong with the suggestions listed above, like Speedsec, CR Speed,..Bladetech.

Good thing about the CR-speed, is that they can fit numerous pistols because they can be adjusted so much. Ghost, speedsec, bladetech are more firearm "specific".

Bladetech DOH is faster than it looks and very secure. I'm not sure that the CR for the Sig will fit other pistols - like the HK the Sig has a unique trigger guard and this generally determines the race holster fit (AFAIK).

I modified a JR holster to use with my p226. Works great!

I saw Manny Bragg can absolutely kick ass with a BladeTech (or something that looked very much like one). There is your proof that it isn't so much the holster as the shooter.

I have used my CR for everything from my STI, Para, Beretta, Sig and CZ and with minor adjustments it will work fine.

I have recently switched over to the Bladetech for my Sig and my CZ and it works just fine with very little sacrifice in speed!

You are not handicapped by the Sig at all. It is an accurate, reliable gun with great potential.

The P226 is a great gun and I love shooting it, and I definitly know that it is the shooter more than the gun or the equipment (and believe you me I have miles of room for improvement). However, it sure doesn't help matters when you try to draw the gun from the cheap Fobus kydex holster you have and it won't release because you didn't pull it out at precisily the right angle. Thanks for all the suggestions everybody.
