Boone is starting to shape up with his intensity level and concentration better. I let him run with with Bug for the first time and he backed him up or smelled the bird , either way he pointed with Bug. Bug is back to steady to wing and shot after a bit of regression earlier so a good day all in all. I hope it cools down as these 5am training sessions are getting old.

Lol. next year I've lined up a person to raise quqil for me but this year its tough getting birds for some reason.

You allowed to use Chukar out there for live release training?

I raised a couple generations of Chuks, starting from 100 or so day old chicks, and we went through three generations before we got away from them.

They lay a great volume of eggs, which will last up to a month under good storage conditions, so you can pretty much keep a decent size incubator going in cycles.

The downside is that if they do not have enough space, the males will kill each other, or leave the others so mangled as to need being destroyed. It's pretty amazing when you actually have a hard time running down a half-skinned chukar inside a pen!

My Brother and his spouse are currently keeping Pigeons and Chukar for training their dogs. Two GSP's and a Visla (my red-headed step child!). Pigeons are not all that 'game bird'y, but they return to the coop after use, so that makes up some.

They are Cabelas vests though Browning has one very similar or maybe identical. I guy I trained with lost his dog when it impaled itself on a hidden branch and these might help prevent suvh a serious injury plus they make the dog easiere to see.
