So, setting on the deck swing shooting Grasshoppers of the hops climbing the wire lattice with a Daisy Red Ryder... that count as practice or just Rednek?
Asking for a friend...

I can light up an unruly barnyard animal with a Red Ryder from 70-80 paces... at that distance, kind of a spitball mind you.
Shooting Hoppers is actually fun...when you tag one good you have to channel your inner 'Mob Boss' from Miller's Crossing and cackle " Always put one in the Brain"
If you haven't seen it...it's a decent Mob movie set in the 30's, highly recommend it

I drilled holes into a board or used a nail, stuck the match into the hole and aimed at where the red and white of the tip meet.

It's only redneck for those who are unable to sit on a porch and plink with a RR.. Before I bought my house, I did that at moms. Drinking a beer, on the porch, shooting the RR at the trees to scare the squirrels.

I think this part of it is Redneck... I let my chickens free-range. Keep the bugs to a minimum... Before too long do they think they should live underneath the front porch. They hear the sound of the Red Ryder being locked and loaded... They're booking 'er for the farmyard.

That was in the old days when strike anywhere matches would actually strike anywhere.

Good luck finding the real ones these days.

My hat's off to your friend if he/she can hit enough grasshoppers to make a meal of it. Now that would be hardcore.

Apparently the Cats love Hoppers...it is AB after all.
I ate dried Salted Hoppers in Mexico...Mayan tradition? Reminded me of masticating Sunflower seeds in the shell as a youth. Likely just get the 'Scratchies' in the Outhouse

Update... POA to POI is actually consistent for a smoothbore ( at Grasshopper range). Can take an Adult out at 8-10 feet, LoL. Great fun
