The T97 Thread!

That's next on my list of things to make. Right after a flared magwell.

Well if you do end up making foldable charging handle, I'd be interested in buying it. That is the only T97's drawback that I'm not able to deal with, the fact that it's pita to store and transport because of the factory handle sticking out. And you can't put it on the left side if you plan slinging the rifle either.

Speaking of custom T97 work: someone really should make a folding charging handle for it.

Totally.

If someone could simply make a mount for an existing model - like a Scorpion, B&T, FAL, or Tavor - would be great.

Hell, if it attaches to the reciprocating bolt, all the better for me!

...I like having moving parts, instead of trusting a separate plastic shuttle.

Hey guys, the firing pin on my T97 gen 2 got bent somehow during a range trip the other day. I managed to hammer it back to more or less straight and filed it down so that it fits into the firing pin channel again and free floats. Edit: looks like the firing pin retaining pin is still in the bolt

It looks like the pin is made of some type of unhardened mild steel with unknown grade/carbon content. Anyone have experience with heat treating the pin? Wondering if its worth it to heat treat and then temper the pin to harden it.

Mild steel doesn’t really harden properly.

I’ve never heard of people needing to.. I wouldn’t bother unless I was desperate.

You can pick up a dirt cheap AK firing pin and then VERY Carefully trim the rear of it down to the correct size

Need help guys and gals having feeding issues with my brand new gen 3. Tried 6 different type mags, mags all acted exactly the same (btw all drop free!). I understand these are supposed to have M4 (ish) feed ramps from the factory but something definitely looks suspicious about mine. Either they are not finished (missed an operation) or they are backwards. V cut should point towards barrel or am I missing something? Can anyone snap a pic of a rifle that runs?

You know you can pop the top off to take a proper picture.

What are the feeding issues you're having? Do they jam the round above the chamber?

Have you tried PMAGs?

They seem to jam below the camber, here is a better picture you can see the copper mark where the bullet hits, even when it goes in bolt does't seem to close all the way.

Also noticed what looks like a cut away but doesn't line up with feed ramps

New to this platform so appreciate the help/patience with me! Better pic of ramps

The overall shape of your feed ramps looks normal to me. I can't tell if white spots on them are glare or actual dings. Try polishing them?

That said the first two pics look very odd to me. Looks like round pops of from under mag's feed lips too early. Or perhaps magazine sits in too high in the magwell. Do you by any chance rest your rifle on the magazine on the table or ground when shooting?

Found the factory mag and I think you are correct Sir. Seems like lips on almost all of my aftermarket mags are shorter by nearly 1/4 inch...causes the round to eject prematurely before the round is in the barrel. Guess I need some new mags20210717_162332.jpg

Have you tried PMAGs? Plenty of people have feeding issues with T97 with various magazines, but I haven't seen anyone complain about PMAG brand. I think FOC had a bunch of Gen 3s.
