so, i'm not allowed to have a main battle rifle anymore, hey?

Nice! Can you give us some details? Well done!

thanks. i've always wanted an fnc1 but alas shall never happen. so, i thought that i would try for a similar look with one of my other rifles.

i started with an hk sl8. barrel cut at 18.6", surefire procomp muzzle device. i should have probably gone with something longer to better simulate the pencil comp on the fn, but this is also a competition gun and i didn't want to sacrifice function over form with this project.

hk g36k handguard. gets some weight out of the front of the gun, but also exposes the gas block in good old fashioned cold war style. otherwise, kinda looks like the handguard on the para version of the fn (and yes, i've got a spectre g-mod stock on the way to complete the para project ...).

hera top rail. the optic is actually just a chinesium 1.5-5x magnifier on a flip-away mount; hidden under the sling at the front is a red dot (i didn't want to take it off and lose zero just for the photo).

spuhr magwell with an asc 20/10-round pistol mag.

hera pistol grip adaptor with a 3d-printed fal-style pistol grip made for ar mounting by a company called magfed maker.

ok, the cool part. the hera pistol grip is designed for an acr stock, but also comes with an ar to acr adaptor. i took an actual fal stock and butt plate and reworked the end to fit into the ar adaptor. super easy, and swapping the stock/grip is a 2-minute job.

if you google fn fal wood stock you'll see pics of what the end of it looks like. i just took a dremel and some hole saws and modified it to fit an ar form factor. basically, when done removing material you want to be left with two plugs; one that fits the buffer tube opening and one that fits the locator opening below. i used hole saws with inside diameters appropriate to the task and the demel to remove anything remaining. drill and tap the adaptor for a 1/4" threaded rod, a coupling nut for the butt plate fastener and done.

what is great about this is that there are currently a lot of rifles designed for ar-style stocks that don't actually have/need buffer tubes. off the top of my head, my sl8 with hera adaptor, my m305 with blackfeather chassis, and any of the new 180 guns. this modified stock will fit on any of them. want wood? got wood!

ps, the same thing goes for anything running an sga stock (ie, my pc9 in crom chassis, or my blackfeather again); if it can take an sga stock then it can take an old wood 870 or 500 stock. i'd post a pic of my chicom socom scout but m305 stuff makes people sad now so i won't.
