The 50yd thread is interesting and informative, but I’m trying to reach out to 300+ and I shoot 10rnd groups. I envision a less formal thread here. Please shoot at 100M/YDS 10 round groups. I have lots of pictures but have never been through the process of posting here. I expect my groups are pretty pedestrian anyway. Through dozens of 10rnd groups at 89M (that’s as far as my home range goes), with CCISV and a T1X, mine average about 1 3/4”. Some flirt with 1 1/4”, but I can’t depend on that. The Ruger Competition 10/22 has done a single 10rnd CCISV at 7/8”, but a 1 off really isn’t useful. The Tenex and Eley match from the T1X look pretty good, but a sample pack gets used sparingly. I always wonder what 10 rnds at 100 looks like for other folks. Let me know.

This was shot at 100 yards. At my other club we shoot 100 M. Rimfire. One member shot a 100-10X group that measured 0.602" c-c
While my best at 100 yards is 0.595 it only scored 100-9X.

This target was shot with a Remington 40XB, Lilja barrel Remington Eley Match at 1062 fps over wind flags.

Super! What is the diameter of X ring?

That’s what I was looking for. It’s nice to see the good gear and good shooting coming together.

You will really want to start with better ammo than CCI SV, you will see it really start to fall apart after 150m... from what I have seen it doesn't have the greatest SD or ES to hold consistently at greater distances. Do you have anyone at your club that you can borrow a crono/labradar from? You will want to see exactly what velocity the ammo you are using is doing out of your specific barrel in order to get data into a calculator which will get you a good start getting on paper at 200+ instead of 'guessing'. The real numbers are usually NOT what is printed on the box. Then you can fine tune what B.C. you use from there. I know others start with 0.131 G1 and fine tune to match the real world result. Also remember air temp and pressure etc will all change your POI. Can't wait to see your results, it is an adventure for sure!

horseman2 shows some very commendable results.

Not to take anything away from them, but it might be helpful to those interested in this subject to ask posters, just as the half-inch challenge at 50 does, to show results obtained since the "challenge" was proposed -- that is results since July 20, 2021. Shooters should also show two ten round groups to give some idea of how consistent results can be. (That's twenty rounds at 100 in two groups, as opposed to 25 at fifty.)

In this way, it's possible to show how shooters are currently doing at 100 yards. In addition, it will avoid the single or few "wallet" groups showing especially good results because they can skew expectations. The results should remain informal as emerson suggests, but shooters will see how others are doing, not how they've done. Shooters might be asked to indicate what rifle, scope, and ammo was used.

Those are impressive horseman!

I’d be sure interested in trying this out. We’ve been shooting out to 300 yards quite a bit. It’s safe now to say, im addicted to rimfires again lol. Ammunition selection makes or breaks those longer consistent shots Iv found.

I’ve chrono’ed the CCISV and a sample pack of better stuff. The Eley Tenex and Match were the most consistent, but my long range testing is on hold due to range shutdowns. The CCISV averages about 1036, the Eley around 1070. My SK RM and CCISV will group 2 1/2-3” wide at 200, but the vertical gets 7-9” for 10-15 rnds. At 300 the vertical is 14”-18” so not working for me. Using the chrono velocity and trueing the BC to drop at 250+(lasered) with StrelokPro has worked reasonably well. I’m hoping the Eley Match tightens that up a bit. Will see.

I am going to give this challenge a go. I will report back later.....

If folks have not tried shooting a winter target round, like SK Biathlon Sport, you may want to try it in the summer. I get really good results with it.
I have never chrono'd it, but it does shoot faster than standard target ammo, just a hair under supersonic according to SK's website. They list it at 1106 fps (although I can't find what temperature they used). Compare this to their SK Rifle Match ("red") listed at 1073 fps.

Shooting with the SK Biathlon in summer at 100 and 200 yards, my dial up is less than with SK Red, so I think that extra velocity is doing good things for wind effects.

I think it makes a louder firing "crack" in summer heat, (which may be my imagination), but I have shot with it at 50m at about 30 deg C air temperature, and not seen any signs on paper of a sonic to transonic wobble in summer (I recently posted results with it in the 50m/yd 1/2 inch groups challenge thread, air temperature was about 26 C). So I suspect at my elevation and barometric pressure it is staying just below supersonic even in the heat of summer.

As far as I can tell, the SK Biathlon Sport bullet is the same as the Rifle Match and Standard Plus ("yellow") bullets, and SK's website lists all the round nose bullets with the same BC at 0.172. But the lube is quite different. The Biathlon lube feels more waxy, whereas the red and yellow are more slimy.

Ammo is of course always the key ingredient, regardless of distance, when good rifles are involved.

For a 100 yard/meter ten-shot thread, agree on the basic requirements so that apples to apples comparisons can begin to be made. I suggest results produced since yesterday (to avoid older wallet results) with two ten shot groups. Details about rifle, scope and ammo should be included.

I like it. My basic goal is to see what is reasonably repeatable and what gear does it.

Give Lapua CenterX a try and see if it helps.

If I am consistently under 1.5" at 100yds, I would be happy.

The better of my 2 lots of CCISV are right there on calmer days, but the wind is pretty swirly at my home range so it’s tough. I have some Center X from the same sample pack that I will try past 100. It was underwhelming at 100 from my stock barrel.

I've been doing some 300 and it is appealing, but I have been focused on 100yards of late after alot of 50.ive been testing different setups of ammo and rifle.then when I find a good 100 I'm goin to 200.shot 7 shot groups with sk bat sport and got .661,and a little better with eley tenex bat.and .780 with sk pisol match spec with zero wind.tried sk long range and stopped after 4 it was bad.but 100 is were I'm at,next year 300 lol.oh the next test will be 2x10 at 100.

I'm actually going to try mystic advice next the centre x,it is my gut feeling it will be the best because it has shot the best 4 me.but it it will be 2x10 my 7 round groups tell me a little but not enough.

If the barrel tells you it doesn't like something, move along. Assume you have tried various SK options?

I found in my Savage MKII, it hated CenterX but loved SK Rifle match... same with another bolt rifle I am currently using. CenterX does prefer tighter chamber dimensions

Ya found same thing with savage mk11 i did the challenge with sk st+,it also likes sk rifle match, centre x was waisted in it,rws rifle match did poorly as well.but in tikka tx1 centre x is outstanding for my skills.but for the most part I found most sk and eley and lapua offerings better then cci st v.

Not to derail the thread, but Mr Mystic i was wanting to order from you awhile back and couldn't download anything.do I email you about a product then you respond with a price and availability
