So first things first THIS ACTUALLY HAS AN FRT# ALREADY (FRN: 3756)
The FRT has it listed as restricted due to the fact that the factory barrel is just 6mm shy of being NR.

As someone who wants to collect more coldwar era rifles I feel like this would make a great center piece. Best of luck Bwing/Motiuk MFG!
And if he just wanted to humble brag about having one of like 5 FN CALs in Canada and has no plans for this I'm still just jealous as all sin about him managing to find one

Ian at forgotten weapons has a video on an original FN CAL for those also interested.

Once he starts manufacturing it, how hard would it be to produce a non-restricted variant? All they have to do is lengthen a barrel a bit?

What about some of the Brazilian variants the Imbels?

As far as the CAL goes, I think a small US company tried that too.
I think they were called Red Rock or Red River or something similar.

Oh god yes

I just hope that this doesn't sit as a small shop making a few a year. I'd much rather one of the medium - large operations picked it up and absolutely smashed thousands out

If we have a CPC win in the up coming election I'd say this is a good possibility, if the Libs win I'd say probably not.

Has the "AR family" new classification method by Russel Smith taught you nothing? In this case the lab doesn't even have to resort to its usual mental gymnastics.

FN CAL is a variant of a named prohibited.

73 The firearm of the design commonly known as the FN-FNC rifle, and any variant or modified version of it, including the FNC Auto Rifle, FNC Auto Paratrooper, FNC-11, FNC-22 and FNC-33.

Having a FRT number now means nothing regarding the final classification.

BTW, there is also an attempt to bring in a variant of G3, under a different name.

The difference being the CETME predates the G3. It's the STAG-10 all over again in the end if it ever even makes it out. It's not "just 6mm" stopping a clear variant of an already prohib rifle unfortunately.

Except the FN CAL has an FRT and you dont get the AR102 and CETME A situation...Its had that FRT for YEARS

No. The FN CAL predates the FNC. As stated before, there is already a restricted FRT# for the FN CAL. Also, if you are referring to the CETME Model A, it is not a G3 variant at all. Please, do a modicum of research before you post misinformation.

The CAL predates the FNC and therefore cannot be a variant. The RCMP SFSS has published a restricted FRT# for the CAL, meaning it is even their opinion that the CAL is not a variant of the FNC.

Big facts from the man himself

I'll admit I didn't know which gun I was talking about. I had the FNC in my head, my bad. I'm not at all wrong about the rest. The 102 predates the 10/15 but was listed as a prohib anyway, that's fact.

Please read Russel Smith's testimony in court under oath on how classification of firearms is done.

Predating anything means ####. Having different operating system means ####. What means everything is lab tech's opinion. That's it.
