Mine came with a plug that reduced capacity to 2+1. I removed the plug and got to 4+1.

Mine was also easy to remove and reconfigured for 5.9 2.75” shells.
The 3 is standard for hunting regs AFAIK.
This is a very good, feature-rich shotgun for the money.
