Cheap AR-15s

Dlask will be bringing in LOTS of Chinese M-4 clones soon. I saw some samples last weekend, and on cursory inspection, they looked VERRRRY NICE!!

The major change is these will NOT have any Metric threads.
AND the price is VERRRRY NICE!!!

All you people [ me included ] who invested too much in our M-4 wannabees are now warned ...
LAZ's crystal ball predicts that the market value for Mforgeries will take a BIG drop next year.

It will only devalue if you sell it. If you plan on keeping it until they pry it out of your cold dead fingers then it will always be worth what you paid for it when you wanted it in the first place.:D

Cheap is a relative term.

Buying military hardware from RED China is a losing proposition as they are using the profits from the sales to drive their military into a first world fighting force - not good for anyone in the long run.

Secondly given they are willing to use lead and aesbestos in childrens toys - do you think they are MP'ing all these parts?

It will be a cold day in Hell before a Chinese weapon graces my gun safe.

Blah blah blah.....

Buying a Chinese gun is just like buying any other Chinese product, such as a T shirt or a screwdriver. You are paying one of the many many factories there so their workers could feed their families.

And as for the lead in toys, in my opinion, it is just a total failure of quality control of profit-driven Western toy companies, because all those toys were manufactured in China according to those companies' specs - including what type of paint should be used. They earned huge profit from out-sourcing the production to China, but were unwilling to invest into product inspection and testing. I don't think we should blame China for all that. They are just factories making your product for you according to your specs.

All paint contains lead. There is no 100% lead-free paint. It is a matter of more or less. "Safe" yesterday in North America may become "dangerous" in today's new standards. If we don't dictate and update the standards with the manufacturers, and if we don't check regularly, we loose control in quality.

Not in this case. These are Chinese made guns sold by Chinese companies. They're not being manufactured for Canadian or American companies on their behalf.

The only Canadian making a few dollars in the transaction would be the dealer... and rightfully so, of course. But the rest goes straight to the Chinese arms industry.

There's a difference there between military industry and kid's toys ;)

I only buy from the Republic of China. Walmart mentality serves only the corporate elite and their shareholders. Rock River Arms makes a quality, relatively cheap AR-15 that works. The only Norinco I would ever consider would be some indigenous designs, like the Type 97, being a collector.

FYI - I do my very level best to avoid buying Chinese product (other than from 'independant' Tawian)

Flip your keyboard over, look behind your monitor, see what's on the back of your computer.

Try as you may to fight the good fight, you'll lose. And you can thank North American corporations for that, out to spend as little as possible to make as much as possible.

Chinese gun, Chinese computer, Chinese toy. It's well past the PONR.

I can still buy an American made DPMS, Remington, Savage, Ruger, Colt, Kimber, Marlin, Smith & Wesson and more. And I will continue to buy American.

I just read an article about how the Canadian branch of Pratt & Whitney has supplied aircraft engines to the Chinese Government for their new attack helicopter. According to this article, in terms of munitions and components for defence products, Canada is #12 worldwide as a supplier of such components.

I know this is waaaay of topic from the original thread, but as everyone seems to be knocking the Chinese and boycotting their products, just remember that business is booming corporately between those Nations. Not just for cheap consumer goods or lead-laiden toys, but for defence and military items...

Bottom line I suppose is if you can't beat them, join them. I *do* shop at Walmart, I own a Norinco firearm and I do so because the quality is acceptable and the price point is hard to refuse.

My $0.02

Exactly my position on this. I couldn't have said it better.

My first AR is going to be a STAG from Arms East

I have no problem buying from commies so long as it is their own original invention and not stolen intellectual properties from the west. Chicom knockoffs suck.
