GSG-16 New Addition to Family

I took the side rails off of mine and used some magpul mlok rubber inserts. Makes the gun feel less plastic-y and fits the hands better.

Consider replacing the charging handle as the pot metal one will only last for so many "slaps".

Where did you get the inserts?
I dont like the cheese grater but im not looking to spend teh time and money to put a whole new front end on on.
Looking for cheap and quick (that was also my nickname in high school)

Cheapest and quickest way would be to remove the rails, they are held on by 2 screws each. It does not look the best with the screw nubs sticking out, but it's functional.
Also regarding ammo, mine feeds all sorts of bulk very well, Federal (525 blue box and 1600 black box), American Eagle, S&B, Aguila. I have not tried any products from Winchester or Remington lineup.
I am sure you and your kids will enjoy the new addition. With its adjustable stock and light weight it's a hit with most youngsters.

I've run 100's of rounds of Federal bulk ammo through mine. No failures that were the ammo's fault. Don't be shy of trying the Federals.
I did have one mag that warped a bit so that when the follower got around the 12 round mark it would hang up and then not feed the next boolit. Took it apart and filed the inside of the mag a bit so the follower could make it through and all good.

I love mine, it’s one of my most fun guns. I probably have over 15,000 rounds through it by now. I have the 522 conversion kit, 9” Dlask barrel, fixed stock, flashlight forend, and several 3D printed parts. It looks very similar to an MP5 and I get questions/compliments on it all the time at the range. The short barrel makes the .22 sound much louder than it should. Several people thought I was firing a 9mm MP5 … I wish!

I haven’t had any issues loading my mags to the full 24 rounds. The mags do “split” ever so slightly, but I haven’t had any issues with feeding, or lasting damage to the mags.

Mine is extremely ammo picky. I’ve tried every round I can find. If yours is picky too, try running some round-nose ammo through it. Mine loves CCI Mini-Mags, copper plated round nose (40g). Hollow-point ammo is very unreliable.

One thing that could be improved upon by quite a bit, is the trigger. It’s very spongey as mentioned above, and it does feel cheap (but it is a cheap gun after all).

Impressive. Within that 15,000 round count, how often does the gun get cleaned?

Mine just gets open the bolt, spray in oil, and call it done.

I had mine out couple days, ran Herters 22 and CCI subsonic HP fine, shot my 9 in out to 100m and one could say, removing the flier, could pulled like a under 4in group.

I clean it thoroughly when it starts to malfunction. Usually every 1,000 rounds or so. CCI is pretty clean burning, but 1,000 rounds is 1,000 rounds. I'd say the failure rate when clean is less than 1%, which I consider good enough for a fun plinker.

I agree stick to 20 rounds in the mags, they have been trouble free for me that way. I've run 1000+ rounds of Aguila through it with no gun issues. I'm not going to bother putting any RWS or SK through it. Just not worth it to me.

Jinxed myself, took my son out shooting and had 5 FTF in 200 rounds.
