wondering how many of you go through times when you totally loose interest in hunting and shooting ? First time in decades its happen for me, just cant seem to find the spark again. Any ideas on how to find the interest again

Go out and shoot... I bet you'll be on your way home after the session with a huge smile on your face lol

Try new things, different flavors, attend a few matches of something ?

Made the mistake of selling my last motorcycle in 2017. Now the itch is back. I'm a real farkle addict and love to tinker on bikes. Shooting and collecting took a one year hiatus (2018-19) as I re-established myself after a separation and retirement, but it's been mostly consistent.

I’ve lost interest in other things but it’s usually been replaced buy shooting and hunting lol. Haven’t had a motorcycle on the road since 2017.

same here...stopped riding in 17 ...no regrets... no itch.... no accidents and a total of 340,000kms clocked .

Always gotta have a gun though. There has been 1 in the house for 50 years.

I went through a period when I didn’t t have the time for shooting and hunting do to the demands of my job but I didn’t t lose interest because my interest in firearms also is entwined with my interest in history. As for a motorcycle bought my lastest bike an Indian as a retirement present to me and though long haul trips are a thing of the past I still enjoy chugging around town

Lost interest when a good friend of 35 years passed away that had the same interest in hunting and shooting. A few years later another good friend has passed that i hunted with and it is becoming less important to me as time goes on. I don't enjoy restoring things anymore either. So ya I guess I am that point now.

But I still come to this site almost daily to read peoples stories and keep up on things.

Try this. Engage yourself in firstly the one shooting or hunting medium you value the most.

Example, during the covide malarkey I lost shooting/hunting interest. Went rabbit hunting, this was a spark. Then sighted in a varmint rifle. One month later I was target shooting 22 target pistol and both my Ruger Old Armies.

Lost interest when the government banned all my ar15s, handicapped the sport of 3gun and the price of ammo shot through the roof
But it helped me develop a love for hunting.

Same issue happened with me and my motorcycle riding. I haven't ridden much for the last 4 years. Early this year, I decided to allocate time to it, no matter what. I told the spouse that I would be riding on certain days (weather permitting) and nothing was to interfere. Nothing. Well, lo and behold, my interest came back. I wasn't worrying about stuff to do around the house, work, kids, and so on. Having competing elements on my time made riding a chore to 'get done', and it sucked the life from it. Now, when I am on the bike, I was enjoying myself again

I suggest you block sufficient time and let everyone know that you're going to do it. Everyone and everything else, GTFO! It may come across as harsh but you have to be able make time to do the things you enjoy. You'll be a better spouse and father, as you will be happier. It's a win-win.

I've lost interest in hunting with a rifle a few times over the years, the longest period was for 7 years in a row.

During those times I hunted only with a bow and arrow, when I returned to hunting with a rifle after only bow hunting it almost seemed like cheating. :)

I lost interest in hunting for the first time in my life last season. This was brought on mostly by frustration before the season with all my buddies expecting me to find access to land and to find them all a deer. Then on opening day of rifle and before the light came up, I fell and took a bad hit, rung my bell and was spinning. I already have a big history of concussion. Thought I was okay and carried on with the day. I then missed a bull elk at first light, standing broadside at 500 metres, an easy shot for me on any other day. After that, really did not want to go out the rest of the season. Even now as we approach the next season, I don't really have any interest in going out.

Even before last season's difficulties, I was frustrated with idiot truck hunters wrecking a hunt, guys that intrude without permission to access the properties, and having been shot in two separate incidents while hunting, the die-hard hunter part of me is getting worn out.
