Not sure if this is old news but it was new to me when I came across it by accident. End of "consultation" in about a month but dates as far back as 2014 are mentioned in the article. Better stock up while you can and good luck to you:

Also new to me.
A bit over a year (12 months after coming into force) and it's done..
More regulations if its saves one life...

So the cost of your tire balance job goes up..like everything else.

I have to live long and shoot a lot to get through my stash of lead though.
Once they start banning lead for target shooting I will really consider moving into the boonies or another country.

Hold a spot for me..

Just started processing 4 pails of ww. Decent looking pails of probably 50% clip on, 30% stick on and 20% zinc/plastic/steel. They’re older pails so it’s a bit gross and smelly, but newer pails aren’t as fruitful. I got out of casting and sold off a few hundred pounds of lead a few years back. Still kicking myself today…

True...but I think we would be good neighbours. Lmao

absolutely.
I have good neighbours though but non of them are interested into outdoor stuff or building and macgyver-ing stuff so not very much in common with them.

Back on topic; how many lbs of wheelweights does one need to be considered a hoarder?? asking for a friend.

I'm at the 55gallon barrel full of sorted...

Lead wheel weights have been banned in Europe for years and it was about 30 years ago that a study was done in the US to see how many wheel weights were on highways. I think they did a 5 mile count in Florida where they counted all the weights on the road and extrapolated the rest of the country and oh my God the sky is falling. We have been warned for 25 years that eventually the stock will dry up and to stock pile as much as you can. Doesn't surprise me a bit that the nanny state would go ahead with the banning of lead wheel weights once and for all.

I have supplies for the rest of my life and kids and even grandkids if they want. Absolute pain when ever I move but in my opinion worth it.

So you’re saying some of us will start wandering the roads and highways lookin for lead wheel weights like the binners look for cans? Lol!

Parking lots are full of lead wheel weights. If it ever comes down to it ......

Bin there done that. Gave up after only finding 3.

Wonder if they will go after lead crystal next?

Haha, the wife and I were coming out of the grocery store the other day and she pointed one out to me on the ground, I was like “oh lookie here!” Was a steel weight...

I’ve already gone through the tire pile at our dump and removed any lead weights. :) :)

IMNSHO WHEEL-weights are over-rated. Their BHN is inconsistent, some are powder coated to disguise their identity and the whole lead wheel-weight as balance is giving way to steel & zinc.
Even collecting & sorting thru all the extra detritus is time consuming, dirty, and then you have to dispose of the other foulness that is in the bin with the WW’s. Can you honestly declare that all that effort is worth the maybe a 50% WW recovery rate?
Collecting & processing WW’s is almost as worse as smelting to make ingots. I really don’t miss that awful sorting job.
