I’m looking at these two pistols in 9mm online , perhaps I will choose one of them , let’s forget about other ones for now please .

I know I will have to handle them before choosing and hopefully rent one at a range .

Which one do you have and why ?

Also concerning the CZ 75 SP-01 I see on Sigs website the front and rear sights seem different as to the ones for sale in Canada . The ones for sale in Canada seem to have Fiber Optic sights
The ones for sale in Canada seem to have a longer front sight (red tube) and longer rear sight . Can someone explain this ?
Thanks

I preferred the grip of the CZ when I compared it to the Sig in my LGS. Perhaps take a visit to Reliable or another LGS if convenient. You might want to go to the Langley Range where you could actually test fire an assortment before you make your choice.....that might get a bit $$$$ though. YouTube probably has lots of vids comparing the choices.

Having shot and owned both.. I would choose the CZ SP01 without thinking twice. With the tin alum grips, it is thinner than a 1911. I should have gotten one, a decade ago.

The P226 MK25 should have night sights, are you sure you are looking at the right model? Actually I don't think I seen a Sig 226 ever come with fiber front sights.

You must be talking about the SP01? Because there is the CZ 75 SP01 Tactical/Phantom ( comes with shorter night sights ) and then the CZ 75 SP01 Shadow ( that comes with fiber optic front sight, and a longer rear ) Which seems to be more popular than the regular SP01.

I actually have both a CZ 75 SP01 tactical, and a SP01 Shadow.

I might be a bit biased considering I own 2 SP-01 Shadows and have only fired a P226 once, but the SP-01 is kind of better at everything than the P226. Unless the Sig just happens to fit you better.

The reliability and longevity of the CZ 75 series is unquestionable. The significantly lower bore axis of the CZ will result in less muzzle flip, and the lighter slide will result in less felt recoil.

100% agree with these guys. Have owned 4 Sig's , got a Shadow and felt just right first time out.

When Dad first got into shooting. He actually had a 226 and a CZ75. Back then I didn't shoot much. And being a youth looks trumped everything. But the Sig just felt snappy, and could not reach the trigger to engage the DA without changing my grip. I always thought CZ were goofy looking and over the years, I looked past them. Was mainly a Glock and 1911 kind of guy.

But I had 3 Sigs, trying to get to like them. My youth opinion still stuck with me. I still had issue with the DA trigger and again found them snappy. I started to shoot PPC and that what everybody shot, was CZ Shadows. After a Glock, and Grand Power, I was like fine, Ill try a CZ. Found one with thin grips, and it was Cinderella shoe. And now my hand won't allow me to buy any pistol other than a CZ 75 SP01. I still wouldn't mind a TS. As I don't need to mount a light or laser on the rail.

I have also had both Sigs and CZ's.

I found the Sig to be a good gun, quite accurate, but as noted above, a bit snappier to shoot than the CZ. I attribute this to the higher bore axis and the aluminum frame on my guns. The CZ is also quite accurate and is more controllable in rapid fire for me being a heavier gun.

I sold my Sigs but always have a CZ of some type around.

Had a few sigs 9mm, 40, 45acp in few models each caliber. Don't have any now. Still have a CZ 75B stainless. Kinda wish tho that i kept that two tone 226 with no rail...

Yes Okay Shooter I was talking about the CZ 75 SP -01 . When I looked at Reliable Firearms website it shows the CZ 75 SP- 01 with the long fibre optic front sight . Now when I go to Sig Sauers website it shows the same pistol without the fibre optic sight which I think would be best for me I think ? If should or some one could check it out you will see what I’m trying to explain . I hope !

I would post the Reliable web information but not sure if I’m allowed to do that .
Hope I’m getting my point across

Thanks

Well there are many versions of the CZ 75 SP01 series ( Regular SP01, Tactical, Phantom, Shadow, Shadow 2 ) So it is easy to be confused. You looked on CZ website for the CZ 75 SP01, but Reliable has a CZ 75 SP01 Shadow for sale. Which has some internal safety changes and different sights.

Like my CZ 75 SP01 Tactical had night sights, but my SP01 Shadow, had fiber fronts, with a longer rear. Personally I would go with the Shadow, as the night sights are pretty blocky for target shooting. Before upgrading to a Shadow, I swapped my night sights for some fibers on my SP01

Thanks very much for the reply OkayShooter . Could you explain the internal safety changes on the CZ SP01 Shadow ? I see it has a manual safety . Are the internal safety changes for the better ? If I read correctly you would choose the fibre optic sites that are on the Shadow at Reliable ?

If you’re a member at Abby I’ll be there Friday during the day. You can try my Shadow. If I get my stupid reg cert by then, I’ll also have a Shadow 2 you can try.

I've owned both a CZ75 SP01 Shadow and P226 Xtreme with the SRT. I greatly preferred the CZ for all the reasons listed. I don't have the biggest hands and the P226 was way too thick for me.

If you go to IPSC or IDPA matches you will see more CZs than anything else. You almost never see a P226. There must be reasons!

The SP01/Tactical is directed more towards police/military. So it has a heavier trigger, snag free safety, some have a decocker and a fire pin block safety. The Shadow line is directed towards being more towards Sport/Target shooter, bigger safety, slightly lighter trigger, no fire pin safety block, thinner sights.

I have a different trigger installed in my shadow, and replaced the sights with reddot mounts.

The ergonomics, how the pistol falls in your hand, was already there in this prototype back in 1975.

Sorry but with fixed sights on a pistol they are not adjustable ? But you can change them out correct ? I think that is what Okay Shooter did to his first Shadow . Also with fixed sights on the CZ SP 01 the gun is sighted in at the factory and that’s that basically you can not adjust for windage and elevation ? Dear ailed is helpful for me
Thanks
