Here is my new Favorite scope , recommended
by Jerry @ Mystic Precision.

Delta Javelin 4.5 - 30 x 56 MRAD
Illuminated SMR 2 Reticle
34mm Tube , 25 m Parallax

Certainly nice to spot your .17 HMR shots at 150 mtrs.

Anyone else with a New/Old Favorite to Share/Brag about ?

Favourite scope?
Easy answer:
Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40 B&C in Gunmetal Gray (and Matte). Even better when fitted with the Alumina lense caps.
Have a couple of these now (along with a number of the matte finished models).
Great scopes that are light, bright, and quick to use in the field under a variety of hunting conditions, and have neve let me down. And carry a lifetime warranty, regardless of the owner.
IMO, the right sized scope for hunting rifles that don't get bumped as easily as larger objective scopes, and don't add unnecessary weight to a hunting rifle that can be carried miles over longs days in the field, bush or on the mountain.
 
Swarovski. I have a couple of the older Habicht, a couple Z5 3-18X42, but my mainstay is Z3 in the 3-10X42 BRX. I just bought another today for my latest 35 build.

Too funny - 60 year old tech rules!!! I am with you - mostly Weaver K2.5 and K3 are here, and M8-4X and M8-6X Leupolds. Do not see just a ton of holes in targets anymore, but followed up on many blood trails to a dead critter after using one of them. Different game, today, I guess!!!

i see today that most none old guy hunters are over scoped to the point its a handycap for them .....a hunting scope when used for actual hunting ....in any tight or semi open terrain need not be over 4.x .......with 1.5 /4 power bushnell being one of the best all round affordable old or new they just work....the neeeeed for scopes in 100yds or less may be questionable in my view.........some need a set of open sights to help them find their target with the over powered scope

Yeah, a bit curious - was a time when a 60 or 75 yard gopher (Richardson Ground Squirel) was considered a "normal" target for an iron sighted .22 Cooey - got lots, but also missed lots. Missed dozens of running jack rabbits and white tail deer with iron sight rifles - then started to connect fairly regular with the scopes - seemed to get the "lead" figured out, for the ones on the run. My Dad, and therefore, myself, considered a 4" diameter at 100 yards to be about an okay off-hand target to hit or miss, to prove something - usually - just B.S. man stuff - but did it and seen it done many, many times since I was old enough to shoot. Turns out that is not even significant in World Class competitions - is not at all what "good" looks like. At least half that time was with iron sights. Many today will call that B.S. - by those who do not know how to shoot, so far as I am concerned.
 
Many will not be able to relate, some will - before we had kids - was always wheedling with the missus about getting better .22 / better scope - would go on a drive through friend's pastures - two track trails - her view - if she could see with her eyes, I should be able to hit - so stupid stuff - three "gophers" on a mound 85 or 90 yards out - she expected me to prove the worth of the .22, the scope, and me, I guess - to take them all - so I would try. Failed often and spectacularly. I suspect that kind of experience is "character building", I have read...
 
I have 2 Tasco Pronghorns one is 4x on my 10-22 since mid 80s. Awesome. I also have a 3-9 on my 30-30. I have 30 years of hunting on it. Shoots dead on like the day I bought it it. Would not trade for the world.

I have other nice optics. But these are simple and perfect just like a 84 Grand National.
 
Have a vx3 2.5-8 on ruger no1, vx3 3.5-10 with alumina covers on tikka 300 wsm, just put a 3-9 freedom rimfire on the 10/22 still need to zero it. Got a couple others that are bushnell, and burriss, but The 3.5-10 would have to be my favourite.

Looks nice, I'd probably try one if they made it with a better reticle. ***EDIT*** just found online that you can get the SMR1 reticle, looks better with wind holds...

For hunting - Leupold VX6 3-18x44 TMOA - light and very clear (better than my Z3 which is even lighter)
For the bench - just about to try a Delta Stryker 5-50x56. Looks like it will beat the NXS 5.5-22 I had but still untested.
 
I am starting to fall in love with my USO TS-20. That 2.5-20 mag range is awesome and the reticle is not too bad. With the illuminated reticle and 52mm obj and 34 mm tube it’s clear far further than my .308 has any buisness shooting and is still good for the 5/35 and the hornet in the gopher patch. It’s a tad bulky on my 308 hunting rifle …. but otherwise perfect. It currently serves 4 rifles out to a max of 1200y.
 
I’ve had and do have lots of high end and fancy glass. New or old, cheap to very expensive the best scope I’ve ever owned is my Leupold Vari-x II 2-7x32 circa 1983. Oh I have lot of newer optics including new Leupold glass but none compares to that 1983 scope. There’s something about it. It’s slim, elegant, has stood the test of time and every time I shoot (a rifle under it) it outperforms anything else I own or have ever owned. It will print tighter groups than a 4 digit scope at many times the magnification. I don’t know why. It’s just magic.
