Hey all,

Well I just picked up a 7mm Rem Mag and of course I’m on the hunt for all my usual reloading gear and components for the new addition to the herd. Here’s where I got the rude awakening; Lapua does not make 7mm Rem Mag brass?! This of course is what I have concluded after visiting multiple vendors and finally the Lapua site and not seeing it at all.

Having said that, I am now on the hunt for a brass of the same quality, or close. Without getting into any debates, I am not interested in Winchester, Remington, or Hornady brass.

I am wondering what experience folks have had with Norma or Nosler brass and perhaps first hand knowledge of how those two compare to Lapua.

Of course if there are other high quality alternatives that you have first hand experience with, please share.

Thank you.

I have a bit of ADG but haven't got to it yet. Still working on my Nosler brass which I find to be very consistent. On my 7th firing and it is still hanging in there. I anneal every firing. I'm hoping now that Lapua is making 300 Win Mag that 7 Rem Mag wont be far behind.

I’ve read a few reviews online claiming the Nosler brass is soft, have you found this to be true in your experience?

I’ve read the same. I haven’t had any issues with the 7RM lots I have. Well, one lot didn’t like to extract in my model 700 but worked fine in all my other 7RMs. In that one rifle the cases would slip off the extractor. Other lots of nosler brass were fine. Currently on my 7th firing of 195 Berger’s over 67.0 grains of Retumbo. Found pressure at 69.0 but as my barrel sped up I had to back off. The primer pockets are still fine. I weighed 50 cases the other day on my FX-120i. The results are below.

Very good info, thank you!

I would stay away from ADG. 20/100 pieces of 300 PRC brass I recently purchased has off-centre flash holes. Unacceptable for brass that is $3 a piece.

I'm currently using Nosler 7mm Rem Mag brass. A word of caution, there's at least two very distinct batches out there that are quite different.

Most of my brass weighs around 213 grains like previously outlined. I have one batch of 40 that weighs 230 grains. Difference in case volume is about .5 grains of H2O. Coincidentally, 10 of the 40 cases have exhibited symptoms of case head separation after 3 firings. 3 of the cases have outright split at the third firing. And this is with using Redding +.010" comp shell holders and .002" shoulder bump.

All of my brass from the 213 grains lots are just fine after 2 firings but I will definitely be inspecting every piece after every firing from now on.
