Feedings been a mixed bag for me.

Some have fed well, some have had trouble with first and last round.

Had noticed the 9.3 really did not like Serbian made round nose ammo...ironically.

The trigger looks like a copy of a Timney or something and not a very flattering one. Would love to replace them with a real 98 or Win 70 style like a Dressel

When they are on they are on. I like a Mauser action enough to appreciate them for the price. its just the crapshoot aspect of em really makes it hard for me. Kinda want to try another one in 6.5x55 and put it in a synthetic stock of some sort. Would be great looking but man...like you just said about the issues. Could be an expensive try, in the end, if it ain't working as it should out the box.

Least it sounds like the Warne rings are the right height for most folks, but the left/right misalignment can usually be seen by eye.

Some updates, I polished up the extractor after noticing some burrs along the edge, it looks like it was cut on some pretty rough machinery. I cleaned up the bolt raceway and polished the ejector blade as well while I was in there. Filed the bolt lug cutout opening for the ejector blade and it seems to cycle fully much more easily.

Then I attacked the trigger assembly with a wrench and screwdriver. Sear engagement taken down a ways and adjusted for over travel. Also tweaked the safety spring an took the trigger weight down. It still has a fair amount of creep, but breaks at 3.2 pounds now with almost no over travel. Passed slam-fire testing.

Fully assembled it's about a hundred times better than it was, the trigger is okay-ish, the bolt cycles fully a lot easier, and a dummy round feeds and ejects properly with way less resistance. But as soon as I put it back together the safety stopped working again, so I suspect it's the stock binding things up. Degreased with Crud Cutter and reassembled with Hoppe's oil on exposed metal and One Shot in the trigger and bolt, and the metalwork has a nice finish now.

I've also got another set of Leupold bases on the way along with Warne bases and Burris rings (with the pos-align inserts, hedging all bets here). We'll see if I can't get this thing right and drag it out into the field, had a miserable range session the other day (200gr Fusion's shot like crap in my Whelen) and need some big bore therapy. If all looks good I might just drop it in a Boyd's laminate with a decent pad and scope it up.

Thanks for giving us the breakdown on what you did to smooth it up! Appreciate it.

Dugasgunner was that one I sold you? Man if so I feel bad, it had worked for me

Update: Leupold #50026 worked somehow - I'm not quite sure how, but I just mounted a 4x40mm on it and it's level and straight. I have almost no clearance for the ocular bell so will need a set of medium height rings and definitely a better scope than this, but we're getting closer!

Damn Weavers...
