The Joke that is the Type 81 Rail

if you ever had TI deleted your comment, go ahead and hit that like button,

ladies and gentlemen, and often forgotten, but not by me, bent type 81s...

As mentioned in the description, downward cant is due to alignment of the rail with actual POI. During testing it was revealed that if the rail was perfectly level that some optics might not have enough elevation adjustment to meet POI

There is slight left offset to ensure rail is mounted as low as possible without hitting the dust cover or receiver. Left offsets are common among receiver sidemounts, some optics in the AK world are offset over 1.5" left.

There may be some appearance of left cant however the rail is level with the trunion. The top dust cover may not be level with trunion.

Factory confirmed PK-06 is Gen 2 prior to shipping, they don't make Gen 1 anymore.

poorly designed, that was obvious when the left handed shooters cant use it cos the locking lever was too low but its still a good effort. one more accessory we didnt have before.

This was a conscious design decision. Either everyone is has no cheek weld or we make rail low as possible and provide left handed options later in the year. We opter for the latter

This is more then your standard dovetail picatinny rail, this rail mount was a considerable undertaking involving four different manufacturers and over 1.5 years of development.

-A new RH safety had to be designed and manufactured (none existed prior to our project)
-Replacement trigger and hammer pins precision manufactured in USA of grade 8.8 steel
-Adapter plate made of 6061 T6 alloy with Mil 8625 Type 3 Hardcoat
-Quick detach adjustable picatinny side mount
-Shipping/freight/duties/kit assembly
-Countless hours of development, testing, plus setup/tooling for manufacturers

The only way this could have been done cheaper is if we were to compromise on the final design. We have something completely reversible that does not damage the rifle and a system that locks up solid and will hold zero over thousands of rounds.

We would have been more then willing to have other manufacturers step in, but with little/no interest from third party manufacturers we took it upon ourselves to support existing owners

So you don't deny it's Chinese made? Chinese aluminum is of notoriously poor quality.
Chinese steel is infamous, it's a hassle getting a constant grade supply of aluminium from the Chinese market but even the worst aluminium you can find is stable. It's a problem if you're looking to anodize or make bimetallic contacts but for making something as simple as a mount you literally can't go wrong with aluminium. Any aluminium, Chinese or not.
If there's a problem (my money being on yeah) then it's not a material problem, it's a manufacturing one.

Lol that Ali express mount is totally the same one. I doubt they bought a bunch of them from china. they probably just used that same design. To be fair the rail looks a bit less wonky in person than in my photos.

Is this really the last run of T81's there TI, like the last 2 or 3 runs of T81's that were definately the last time we would ever see these guns made? Or was that just some BS panic selling tactics? See these everywhere now so I guess some problems with supply and demand maybe catching up? Lol

Like all those "this is the last run of M305!" warnings?

Well, they did eventually turn to garbage but they were still coming out I guess lol.

I almost was gonna fall for this gun a while ago. Luckily I didnt seeing this thread. Grab a smith wesson sport 2 off the shelves when otoole gets his minority government instead. Also #### china

You do know that Chinese factories are notorious for copying new designs very quickly for worldwide sale, right? One of the risks in getting stuff mass produced in China.

A lot of times its the exact same factory churning out more than the original orders worth. Good luck stopping them legally lol.

This was already explained ad nauseam... First T81 batch was a single production run, piggybacked off a military order. Production run was stored at factory and multiple shipments taken from supply. Factory told us T81 was going out of production, they were scrapping tooling to make room for rearming the Chinese military with the new rifle. Unexpectedly they received a large foreign order and decided to keep production line open for time being. We piggybacked off that order for LMG's. Not sure what that has to do with sidemounts?

rail forward pitch looks good in the OPs post....

dust cover and stock don't look square to eachother... so the side cant is really hard to tell... As far as im concerned on guns like this.. if you can zero it... its fine... if it can't be zeroed then worry about it.

It was the same with the mounts for M305, SKS, M1 carbines,CZ mounts... anything that mounts to the side of a stamped, or un milled cast receiver.

You can buy the best rail and it might not fit true... and you can buy the worst rail and its looks on perfect... luck of the draw.
