I can confirm that if your willing to do a crap ton of filing/dremeling/grinding you can get the Tactical imports side mount to work with other AK mounts. I was not able to get an RS regulate mount to slide on, (though if I was willing to file some more it probably would). But this AK PU scope mount will go on there now, though it is pretty tight (again, I probably could have kept filing to fix this but ran out of steam last night). And the picatinny mount still fits as well (due to the adjustable nature of the mount).

My file work is so far from pretty its not even funny. Don't cyber bully me please. :ang3

Interesting, could be a fix for people that bought the mount then found out how terrible it was. But at this point wouldn’t it just be better to get an actual AK dovetail mount and put it on your rifle?

I know some people don’t want that permanent mod but still, it’ll be way better, and you can actually take your optic off and back on with it still holding zero.

Cant see the pics yet, but by going off the mount u listed I assume that u had to Dremel / mill / file a vertical concave for the mounts locking cam ?

I don't know why TI went with that style of side rail in the first place. Absolutely no allowance for anything other than pure pinch-lock mounts with rear stop.
Even the absolute cheapest AK side rail has a central channel for cam locks, and a good deal of them have a central horizontal channel for a front-stop lug. I do appreciate the work to make a rail fit the Type81, and the installation via threaded pins is a good idea, but it's too much a limiting solution.

P.S. Also, no pics.

Not sure what was up with the way the original image host was working (or in this case NOT working). I re-uploaded them to IMGUR now and should be working now.

I can confirm the pictures are visible, nice work! Maybe TI could have that slot machines into a Version 2 of their plate, as long as it doesn't interfere with mounting the default rail.

Man, how much material did you have to remove from the lower side of the rail to fit that mount on?
Hope you cleaned that central cam lock channel with a round file or something, then at least blued everything up.

Can't blue it, it's aluminum. Paint is the only option, not that it .atters as again it's aluminum and won't rust

Wait, the rail adapter plate is aluminium? No wonder the rail piece is so chunky. If it's 3003 alloy, it will probably deform slowly under stress, so ideally try to tighten the set screw on the mount as little as possible. Could also be 5005, but it's rarely seen in anything other than extrusions and sheets (it would also be a poor choice anyway).

As stated by TI the adapter is 6061 t6 with hardcoat anodize
