I am looking for a nice set of open sights for a ruger MKII in 350 rem mag. They would be used both as backup and primary sights depending on where I am hunting or if I am just packing it along. I would prefer a peep sight (looked at the brockman pop-up but it is only availible for the M70 and Montana 1999), but I am definatly not opposed to a good set of non-reciever sights. Would be nice to find a set in stainless but not neccessary. Maybe a banded front sight? let me know what you guys think.

Simon, check out the NECG's. They make a nice Express style sight and a banded front sight that can accept a cover to protect it. The style I used had an adjustable bead for height in case you need to adjust it a bit. They were a classy looking set up IMO and not too unreasonable from Brownells.
P&D might be able to get them for you, to save potential export hassles.

Don't know of any reciever sights available....

Have a look at Williams Gunsights. Their model #FP-RU-77. Add the W's then click on 'More Gun Sights'.

Just doing my best to spend your money. One might check out the EAW mounts too. They have a ton of different mounts.

So is the 350 going to replace your carbeen 375?

Where do I find these so called EAW mounts?

Replace...compliment....too early to tell:D

Is there a difference between "spending his money" and bankrupting him? :p

There are some interesting sights available here:

although I've not asked about prices.

Have you seen this guys spending record lately, he needs no encouragement! LOL:p Oh to be young and single! :D

Just tossing the few ideas I have to share....

Simon, I will try to find the link I was sent by someone a couple weeks ago. Not sure where it is or if they even make what you want at all. I will try to post it here tonight if I can find it.;)

Thanks for the info guys. The peep that NECG makes to mount right on the ruger reciever looks pretty interesting allthough Im not sure I really like the idea of having to carry the sight in my pocket if I am using it for a backup. So far from what you guys have shown me I think the NECG masterpiece/universal banded front sight and the masterpiece fully adjustable rear sight will probably fit the bill nicely. This little thumper is a beauty, allthough you might shun me Noel when you find out what it is made of!! (SS:eek::runaway:) allthough thank god I didn't go as far as synthetic!

I had a NECG sight that was on a RSI Ruger that I picked up.
When I sold it the second last time, ( it was a real money maker!:D)
I asked the guy if he wanted the sight.
"No, you keep it, I just use scopes." was the reply.
BONUS!!:D
I now have a slot milled in the rear CD scope mount for my Tikka 412S to take the sight.:50cal:
They are well made, and fully adjustable....

Easy there Tiger!

Those EAW's look very purty....I wonder what kind of money were talking about here though:redface: Im ok with a Kraft dinner diet, but any more spending and I wont have enough for ketchup to put on it!

 I don't think "Kraft dinner" and "ketchup" go well in the same sentence as EAW. Try "truffles" and "beef bourguignon." NEGC's prices run around $400.00, according to their website.

Yea thats looking a little steep for my tastes. Does anyone make quick release rings that go right on the ruger bases? Or will I have to put additional bases on top for the quick detach feature?

Do you have access to a lathe? I bet one could be made in fairly short order that clamps into the rear detent for the scope ring. Just some sort of cupped discs that fit those notches and then make a peep that sits on the clamp screw. If you got fancy the thread of the screw could be used to adjust the windage, or use shims. Just a thought for the budget minded.... You should be able to figure the peep hole height the same way you would when boresighting.

Hmmm.....this has got me needing one!
