Hi I am thinking about starting a Tabuk Sniper Rifle.

I'm waiting for the announced no drill scope mount from TI.. Hopefully I can put a Primary Arms prism sight with a 7.62x39 BDC reticle on it :)

Dam. Im really trying to save up for a Yamaha Banshee purchase next year... BUT maybe when the next order comes in ill have the spare cash to also buy a LMG and make a Tabuk rifle. Someone's gotta do it!

SO i played around with Paint 3D this aft..... not sure if I like the projected outcome or not :/

Keep in mind proportions and angles may be off cus its just a quick collaboration of online pics. The project will be SUPER easy to achieve and possibly reversible depending on a couple of variables.

My plan would be:

- Carve out buttstock from Maple blank
- Attach SVD cheek pad bought from ebay
- Attach US brand "palm ak grip" (cus this is similar to the unattainable Tabuk grip)
- Attach side rail to receiver via drilling holes OR using this new Tactical Imports mount ?
- Attach either POSP or PO side mount optic
- Remove carry handle
- Fabricate right hand safety
- Carve out lower handguard from Maple blank
- Remove LMG bipod and mount
- CNC flashhider for LMG muzzle thread.
- Cut a Type 81 mag down shorter

"- Carve out lower handguard from Maple blank"

why cant you mod the existing lower hg? it would match the upper hg better.

I have to say, ive been staring at the pic long enough that its starting to grow on me lol ill have to give it some Iraqi name !

Depends on if i want it to be reversable or not.

Bipod comes off with one pin
Carry handle has a flat head screw and a rivet holding it on so you would have to drill it out
The stock comes off with 2 pins that's easy enough

Carry handle would be the only thing not %100 reversable. Not in factory state anyway.

You may have to consider if the empty ejected case will hit the bottom of the scope. I put a POSP on an SKS and it needs a shell deflector to stop the bottom of the scope being dinged after every shot. It might not be a T81 problem but you should check it out......

you may have to put a line production ...

Yah i figured there was a chance that something permanent would need to be done in order to get the carry handle off.

Good point, it will certainly need it. My Type 81 rifle did when i had a posp equipped. Thankfully the posp destined for this build already has a shell deflector on it.

The only other firearm I can find with the same thread pitch is an H&K Mark 23 pistol. Thus no other flash suppressors/muzzle devices.

For all of the amateur machinists out there, could you drill out a 14x1 LH device (AK 47s) to 15MM then tap to M16x1?

Sounds pretty straightforward but I could be missing something.

If it doesn't throw off the balance or accuracy too much, maybe just keep the handle on? Ian at Forgotten Weapons questioned in his Tabruk range video why it didn't have one.

Pretty much. Drill / Bore to tap drill size for M16x1mm. I got a hold of Autocad finally, in the distant future I plan to start CNC'ing all sorts of goodies for these guns and other combloc guns.

Thats ironically funny to hear haha! Will be easy to decide either or when the build starts to happen. If it does...

back to the topic did you start it or even think about doing some for others?

Been gathering parts and brainstorming its construction when i can make the time.

I need to contact the machine shop monday and see if they have the appropriate tools to machine a M14x1mm SVD flashider. I would like to make a M16x1mm one as well, but decided there was no way to make such a thing that would look good. M16 is just waaay to fat. So maybe ill make an M16x1mm to M14x1mm (and left hand) adapter. Havent started the Tabuk project due to many reasons. The biggest being that i need stock LMGs for future advertising.

The project seems relatively simple enough that it could to a certain extent be offered as kit.
