303 ammo on chargers

There is no up or down that way - goes in either way. Seems counter-intuitive, but that method definitely works! How all the ammo came to an infantry soldier - in chargers like that. Even the cloth bandoliers had two chargers like that, in each pouch.

If you’re referring to the _-_-_ that is the correct loading method, keeps them stacked properly when loaded into the mag.

I agree but that's not the way these fresh from the crate chargers are loaded. Not only do the chargers look like they have an up side but the rims can clearly be seen stacked on top of each other in sequence.

There is a common misconception when it comes to loading the chargers. _-_-_ was only introduced for two reasons. In a heat of a battle one would have a hard time to distinguish the right “end” of the stripper clip if not for this method. Also, during marching or other vigorous activities this method allowed for the rounds to stay in place and not move around. However. It’s easier to load the rifle when the rims of the cartridges are one over another just like in Mosin charger. Give it a try and likely you’ll notice the difference. If you not at war, you can paint one end of the stripper clip with the red paint and start loading your Enfield this way.
