Glock - Production vs Standard?

I have seen a few good local standard division glock shooters, who would score and place higher overall if they shot an STI, or Tanfoglio.

Does the 4.1 gr. of 231 run OK with the stock recoil spring? The 5.0 gr of 231 was loaded for Standard in my Glock 35 but I wanted to try the Glock 22 as I just got it so I am looking for a lighter load which will run the G22 reliably.

Absolutely, all of the springs in both my G22's are the ones that came with the gun from the factory. I loaded to a 1.125 OAL, really like those loads as they're nice and soft yet were still about 135 PF. If you're a better shooter than me you may find the slide doesn't cycle fast enough for your liking. I'm not good enough to notice that, I was more concerned with ensuring it cycled each and every time (which it did). I never tried a lighter recoil spring so can't comment on the difference it would make.

Dave Sevigny can't be wrong. He's won IPSC, IDPA, USPSC, championships multi times and is considered the best production shooter in the world and he uses a a Glock 17, 34, and 35.

No, he is not wrong....nothing wrong with being sponsored to shoot for a living....That does not hurt his ability to put gross amounts of ammo downrange. Adam Tyc is the current world production division champion....a feat he accomplished with a CZ SP01,,,while still not old enough to legally buy liquor...(he was a junior at the time)
Didn't Rob Leatham win the US national production division championship last year (?),,.....
This years US nationals was won by Dave Sevigny....by about 0.01%, over Max Michel....an OPen shooter who decided about a month before the match to start using a CZ Sp01...

It goes without saying that a really good shooter can do well with just about any gun that works. But give a really good shooter the best equipment and the spread widens. It just makes sense.

with an XD no less[/QUOTE]

I got a chance to handle Leatham's XD at an Area match one time. The trigger on it was insane! Certainly wouldn't have passed international muster......

Are single action pistols allowed in USPSA Production? The XD is rated as a S/A gun. That said Leathan could win Production throwing darts with a broken sling shot IMHO.

Take Care

Bob

because it's striker fired it's allowed in PD. stupid, but that's the rule. Springfield wouldn't know it's ass from a hole in the ground when it came to how to describe their XD, but it still somehow got into PD.

I would refrain from reloading those, they may jam up your case feeder.

Rob I think they described it as S/A when they were competing for the cancelled US ARmy Pistol Contract that called for single action pistols. One reason for the grip safety as well.

Stupid is right.

You forgot to mention that Dave beat Rob in the 2006 limited nationals with his Glock 35.

USPSA rules for production are different than IPSC.. they limit rounds to 10 rest of world mag capacity... they also allow for trigger jobs.. rest of IPSC world 5lbs... concealment holster only.... rest of IPSC world speed holster is ok...
SO yes his trigger would be insane but I bet the rest of the boys would have theirs done up too

Sevigny's triggers are between 4 and 6 pounds, depends on what he's shooting.

He must get lucky a lot because he also won the 2007 USPSA Production Nationals, the 2007 TCSA Nationals and the 2007 Steel Master Championships. Did I mention he shoots a Glock?

Yeah, I mentioned that above,...he won by a whole 0.01% over Max Michel, who only shoots production once a blue moon. Dave is an exceptional and awesome shooter....I have seen his scores at a match I attended in Vermont this past summer.....pretty incredible...and humbling,..

I have seen lots of Glock Shooters. but none using a Glock even close to his abilities.....so maybe it is not the gun....but the shooter??
I think if he started shooting for CZ or tanfoglio,.......:50cal:

I just spoke to Dave,I told him that you said he would do better with your gun, so he said he's burning his Glocks and getting whatever you recommend. He also said he always liked you better than Curly and Larry..........

Smart-ass:ninja:

Wow, Dave actually talked to you...:runaway: LOL JK.
I thought he would see it my way...:p
Tell him I got a new sponsor....LLAMA!! So he should be worried...:pirate:
