Best non-res SHTF gun?

It depends.
if zombies, a gun isn't a great SHTF weapon in the first place. distance, height, seclusion and a sword are.
a gun is of course a must, but not for zombies.

if invasion, whatever guns you begin with are fine, but retrieving, using and arming your friends with the enemies guns are the best bet. universality. not preference.

Not only that, but stranded survivors waiting on rooftops...if someone looked like they had a long gun, the choppers never came for anyone there, but a nervous "snatch" squad of armed feds by truck or boat did eventually show up.
 
Some people are completly missing the point here. The idea is having a gun you can have in the car, or truck, and when SHTF, take it, load it, and retreat home, where your restricteds are. Once at home safe and sound, then restrics laws become kind of irrelevant.

I can hardly imagine myself trying to convince two or more LEO's finding my AR in the trunk of my car , that it is for my protection when SHTF..... while they press my face into the road.
 
now right now I would have to choose from what I have, I would have my
.223 sniper rifle, 12 gauge 870 and .22 handguns but later on it will be AR, 9mm glock or sig sauer p226 and still my 870 loaded with buckshot or slugs:)
 
I really don't think it matters. If I have a gun in my hands I am comfy enough with an the ammo I need, I see myself as well.

Having an advantage or any advantages like high cap mags and shortness of an assault rifle tips things in my favour but if I had to be in some kind of sustained thing like that takin on multiple scumbags Kevin B style I would end up dead anyway lol.
 
Slowbalt, I get what you're saying... "What gun would you have in your car/truck/etc"....for me, AR180B with 10rd RRA mags. Everything is nice and legal when SHTF, then I go home, to my arsenal. My PE90, well, to damn expensive to leave sitting in the trunk.
 
Given the non-restricted criteria, VZ 858 as a backup and one of the semi auto M2HB's from Marstar mounted on my pickup with 5000 rounds of .50.

Okay...you're way off topic. The thread is about non-restricted SHTF guns, not about very cool and unique and gorgeous (in the case of the HK) SHTF guns that nobody else on your block owns. :)

Did I mention that I like the HK? :dancingbanana:
 
Remington 870 w/slugs. Being a city slicker I don't foresee any requirement to engage past 50 yards, more realistically it would be less than 25 yards or are we talking about a Blackhawk down scenario? :eek:
