Does anybody reload for a Weatherby Vanguard in the 270 WSM? I have one (a sub-moa stainless synthetic) and have tried some of my friends reloads (150 grain partitions, 58 grains IMR 4350) and they are all over the place. They work great in his Ruger but my Vanguard hates them.

The Vangurad likes factory Winchester 150 power points, so I am thinking that that is a good start and I have the Winchester recipies, just not the powder. My friend has alot of 4350 so that is what we were going to try before buying any more.

Does anybody have any experience shoot this rifle and can help me?

Thanks.

could be bullets , could be powder ........you got to try different ones out . Could be the load ............. my 300wsm will shoot great with accubonds and not so great with partions ,but yet my buddies wont shoot accubonds but loves the partitions .
I think I have about 15 types of powder in the lock up and I dont know how many different brands of bullets . The gun might not like the powder, bullet or primer in any combonation or all of the above .

I start with one powder and one type of bullet and work my way up ,if its not what I like ,I will try another powder and another powder .........etc if still cant get it to shoot ,I switch bullets and start over

lots of Trial and error

That is kinda what I am thinking. I was just hoping that someone is shooting my gun and found something that works for them. Just trying to cut some corners and save a little coin I guess :)

I am going to try some accubonds and see how those fly.

Suprisingly, this is the only rifle that I have ever owned that actually liked Winchester factory ammo, so that is why I might try to mimic it.

Thanks for the help.

All guns even if same make ,model, caliber are different . Some may shoot the same loads as someones else well , but most of the time they all have there own "sweet" recipe they like

Thanks for the help. That is true as my Dad and I have old BSA's that are 10 serial numbers apart and he shoots silvertips and my gun throws them all over the place.

Oh well, can't blame a guy for trying to find a short cut.

I am working on a load for my savage 270wsm right now, want to go with 130gr interbonds for now but havent found the right load yet. its just too cold to do alot of testing at the moment

270

As stated my loads may not shoot in you gun but 62gr H4350 behind a 130gr partition gives me 3275fps and .6'' accuracy in a Win M70 featherweight with a mcmillan edge stock but everything else is factory.

Right on. Thanks for the help. I am going to try some 140 partitions and 130 partitions that my friend has and try a bit more powder in it.

62 gr of 4350 with the 130 is near or at max, correct?

It is warming up nicely (-5 now) so I am going to shoot while I can.
