Good day all!! I just bought a Brno combination gun 7x57R over 12 gauge and was wondering what should I expect of the 7x57 Mauser, what are your experience with it, if you have the same gun and you reload for it what is your velocity and perhaps your best load?
Leaving in the Yukon I think it will be mainly a caribou and sheep gun with the possibility of moose thrown in there…
Thanks

I shot a Brno combination gun For a while and liked it.
As for the 7x57 it is a great cartridge and will kill moose cleanly.
I used to load 160 game kings in mine to great effect!

I found on nosler site 160gr partition over 46gr IMR4350( I assume I could swap it for H4350 that I have on hand) that most accurate load in there test for there rifle, with a velocity of 2622fps! I would be really happy with that!!

My only problem so far is to try finding 160gr nosler partition available some where in Canada…..

No it was a private sale! I do have pictures but can’t seem to be able to
Post pictures to save my life lol!

I have had one for about 10 years took a couple years to find it, anyway it's a 12 ga 2 3/4 over 7x57ai look it call it my camp gun loted with a sluggish and a 150-160 bullet is some good protection. As for the load would have to look every person who has shouldered this is gun says the same thing most balanced gun they have ever handled.

I have one of the same, 7x57R/12ga. When I acquired mine, included in the deal, I also got a set of skeet barrels. My primary use is on some of our 'wet coast' wet windy weather days. For walking old logging skid roads in river bottom areas where you're just as likely to run into a Blacktail Deer as you are a Ruff Grouse.

Oh that's a handsome rifle! 7x57 is a good cartridge. The R version is the same but rimmed for breech loading. 140gr bullets should be plenty for caribou and sheep, 160+ for moose. I'm really partial to the 175gr bullets for moose and elk, despite the increased bullet drop they absolutely hammer game.

Does anyone know if these have an 11mm dovetail on them? Could an IER scope be mounted forward on “CZ” rings?

Yeah that is exactly my plan for that one, moose grouse and ducks, caribou sheep and ptarmigan kind of idea!!
