Where to get Black Powder now??

I have been told that Schuetzen, importers of Swiss has containers of powder already coming to North America. This was already after Goex's fire in June and prior to Goex's announcement that they were closing. So time will tell.

I think that BP powder supplies will be non existent for a few months as BP shooters have bought anything they could find on Monday and Tuesday. There are some who have a good supply. See if you can find some one to sell you a few pounds at normal rates till powder is back on the shelf. I already have had someone tell me that they will sell their surplus BP at a 100% mark up. I told him if he did that it will bite in the ass later in the BP community.

We also need a better distributor for Goex and Swiss in Canada.

Lets keep our fingers crossed.

I believe there are at least four Canadian importers of Goex. If I am not mistaken, they are McLeod's Blasting in BC, Bowmarc Gunpar and Hummason in Ont. and FX Fireworks in NS. I have been most fortunate in that FX is very close although, given their inventory as of Monday, I suspect that may not last long.

Who are the distributors for Swiss?

Started using my stash of 777 and pyrodex in my percussion stuff on the weekend, shoots good, pyrodex is a PITA to clean. Then i heard that goex was done. Guess i`ll save my stash of Goex for the flint guns until some other BP shows up.
I recover most of my lead from my home range, cast my own ball, can make my own caps and wads, so i`m good there.

Yes there is a bit of concern but I would not worry so much about black powder availability in the future.

It will come back in due time. Goex wants to find a buyer for the facility. The US DoD needs powder as well. In the meantime I believe that Swiss and Schuetzen will step to the plate if that isnt already on the go. It takes time to load, transport and wait to load and for ships to travel from Europe to NA.

I think there is a problem with shipping because of a shortage of truckers in North America. At least part of the problem is limited training opportunities because of covid concerns

I've been a trucker in America, the problem is that most companies want you to move to states where few want to live so they can pay you as little as possible which drives the nation wide wages down. Younger folks simply don't want to spend 90% of their life on the road and the other 10% in rural middle America while making peanuts.
Until the industry realizes that and accepts a lower profit margin there will continue to be shortages.

Because I didn't want those living conditions I drove exclusively day trips for heavy construction. Consistently the only person paid less on the job site was a labourer, anyone in a machine got 25-50% more than I did while dealing with a whole lot less personal responsibility.

If this thread isn't an open invite for a shameless Kirk vs. The Gorn plug, I don't know what is. Captain Kirk made his own, no problems!
