Lithuania Gets G36

What reinforcement is there to the receiver on the G36? Is the whole frame simply plastic with a small barrel trunion molded in place?

Sounds flimsy if that is actually the case.

Its got several steel rails running the length of the reciever (IIRC one on each side, and one on the top, but dont quote me on it) Kind of like the USP's or Mark23 slide rails.

The trunion is just embedded into the plastic though, not connected to any of the re-enforcement rails, or anything else...

The G36 is a kind of cool rifle, but its got a lot of "cons"

Always remember when I went to the Pattern Room and they whipped out an H&K 50 prototype to show me (which I should have taken a few pictures of, sorry, I wasn't there to look at H&Ks) then they showed me a display of an H&K G36 with an array of optional add-on bits like the SF trigger group.

I asked him what his professional opinion of it was, and he picked up one of the trigger groups and said to me: "plastic POS, I bet they start cracking, the lid of my dustbin is made out of tougher plastic than that".

19 mil divided by 9,000 guns equal $ 2,111.11 per gun. Not much of a deal since we can buy them for about the same price one at a time!!
