Are people really surprised their Chinese made AK-47 derivative isn't the same quality of say a modern Swiss made/designed firearm? Come on lol.

What does this mean in practical terms? Any real difference in operation or longevity? Wouldn't be too hard to stake mag latch pins yourself no?

Its mainly just interesting since it hints at differing manufacturing processes, QC, design, motivations etc. etc.

One can also ask, why the Park finish on all models this time ? Some of us wonder if there is a deeper reason beyond just " people like parkerization ". I believe they had the factory apply the red stain cus they knew buyers would prefer it, and it would help to justify the $200 price over the previous rifle import.... but then at the same time i wonder if they had the ability to make improvements like that, why are the mag pins not staked ? Why did they not pin the pistol grip screw like on the LMGs ? Why let some bent models enter the mix ? Why do the bolts not have serial numbers ?

No difference in operation or longevity. Bluing just offers corrosion resistance versus steel in the white. Staking is easy with the right punches. Murray 3-D is correct. New Special edition are unstaked compared to the LMG. The springs are blued in LMG and white in the Special edition. The top cover is cut much tighter and cleaner on the LMG while the Special Edition has some gaps around the front trunion. Overall, the Special Edition Rifles are made a little more poorly compared to the LMG. Still serviceable however.

These are cheap guns... back in the day I suspect these would have sold for less then the $700 Vz58's when they first came to Canada.

Aw man you had to remind me. Got mine off the EE here years and years ago for $600. Almost got banned once already via FRT but luckily we had Harper back then. Then sock boy had to show up.

Good questions. Maybe different factories for the rifles vs the LMG's? I suppose it's anybody's guess, or maybe TI knows...

What a great shooter this rifle is. It was pretty much dialed in right out of the box, I had to slightly tweak elevation but it was very close. Consistent hits on IPSC steel at 200m standing unsupported, at 300m kneeling unsupported and at 400m from the bench with front and rear support. All that is with irons. Kobra is about to arrive next week, so it will be even more fun.

Chinese spy here, ive been busy advising the top levels of your govt all day but i can answer all these questions for you.
-Any coating process that was already set up for whatever batch they did last, was the one they used for these rifles.
-They probably stopped numbering the bolts because it was a ridiculous waste of time = waste of money.
-Probably used red stain because a worker fell into one of the machines liveleak style and they just improvised.
-There are bent barrels on some because diversity is our strength, and if you question this further you are racist and will go to gulag.
-rifle is product of communist state, engineers, and education system; no further improvements could have possibly been made.
-And the price increase of 200 bucks is less than inflation, so thats kindve a non issue.

My friend who hasn't received his folder yet was getting very excited - until I told him "looks Chinese, feels Chinese, probably is Chinese". I don't think he will talk to me for a while, sorry bud.

The Chinese do make good weapons for their military...the various clones that are meant for the civilian market can be a hit and miss, but they sure came a long way since the 90's.

Firearms should be separated from politics and should only be judged on their field performance and reliability.

What is with the Chines bashing? Did you buy the Chinese made rifle just to bash Chinese? Why do you buy them if you are full of hate? Do you buy them to make them objects of scorn?

I ate a sh!tstorm of Chinese food lastnight.. followed by some Korean television programming lol
