Do you think this muzzle brake, reamed out, would work on an M14 barrel that has been appropriately threaded?

I want to shorten the barrel. Not sure how much. Those brakes need 1/2" right? I'm guessing the barrel never goes below that diameter. Tell me what you can. Maybe I should send the barrel to Jeff if he takes on these jobs.

If you are having an M1A barrel shortened, make sure you do not go below 18". If you do, it will become a restricted firearm.
Most gunsmiths that do this kind of work will know this, but you should check before having it done.
