Toz 8

I'm sure you could use a dogcollar with these but it might be a bit on the sloppy end. Been looking around and most slings just look like some generic leather strap of some sort, not entirely sure if there was a proper one intended for them or not.

That said. if anyone is looking to sell one of their sling swivels for whatever reason, mine didn't come with the one on the buttstock for some reason.

Dm me. I'll check after work. I'm sure I took them off of at least on 22 by now.

Dicking around with the TOZ at distance. Wishing I had the longer range sight but I managed to get a 330 yard shot with this thing. Had to do a volume boost for the second video since the sound is so faint.

Just using CCI Clean standard velocity and shooting at a 12 inch plate. Hard to see in the videos but its centered there when I zoom in. You'll hear the dings.

Great gun, gonna see how far I can go without a scope.

Great shooting great post!!

Here's one idea: make several wooden or plastic shims to fit underneath that ramp.
As long as they are uniform size and thickness you could experiment the number of shim required at longer ranges with X brand ammo.
Then keep it on record for future reference.

330 is very commendable results!

maybe

Thanks!! Might give that a shot!

I've been making do with 'extended holds' as far as the sights are concerned, elevating the front post and using the rear notch as reference the further I went. I'm pretty confident I can land a shot up to 400 yards this way, but beyond that I'll have to look into making spacers for sure. I'll take some photographs of the holds I used for the 200 and 300+ yard shots.

Gonna be pretty tough to verify the hits, the round seemed to really tank on energy past the 200 yard mark and that last video was barely audible enough for the phone to pick up. Should the weather hold up this weekend, I'm going to spend an afternoon and see how far this thing will go.

Edit:

Decided to take the photos now.

So, here's the style of sight I have.

We'll call this one the "AK" style rear sight. I see some with SKS style adjusters, Some AK, and some with Mosin ones. Mine only goes out to 100 meters, and the graduations do appear to be accurate from the testing I have done with SV 40 grain projectiles. Stuff around 1040/1070 FPS is what these guns really seem to eat right up.

This is around the hold I used for the 200 yard shot. Bottomed out the front sight post within the rear notch and the elevation seemed to be just about right. I covered the target and was able to land hits at 200 this way. I could probably fine tune this further for a proper 6 o' clock hold but this worked for me.

This is the hold for the 330 yard shot. Was covering the target again, and it took me a couple of rounds before it hit true, but from what I could see the rounds were all landing just shy of the plate every time.

And here's the target used. Picked it up fresh the other day, so each lead splatter here is from this last shooting session.

I had less than an hour to futz around with this since the sun is starting to get away from us this time of year, but im pretty confident with these holds so far!

Awesome! Great shot.

The guns got some real capability for sure. I haven't had a chance to sling more lead with it since the videos i had shared of it, but its pretty much hit the top of the list of favorite shooters out of the collection of .22's I have.

Still quite determined to push the range on it a bit further, but it'll be a spring of '22 deal once this winter passes over. I've got plans!

Bought one of these recently with a buggered front sight.
I want to replace both the front and rear.
Anyone know what style it is so I can get a replacement or should I just cut, recrown and put a new one on? Rear sight looks to be the same style as an SKS or close to it.
Not talking the dovetail but the entire ramp.

I’ve had a TO3-17 with a low 5 digit Serial number, Very similar to Red Rabbit’s TOZ above ^^^. When mine is scoped I have a 1.5 x 4 on it. I’d put a TOZ up against any fancy heavy barrel target rimfire on the market. The partridge style front and rear sight makes it one of the most easy to line up and center on your target.

On a bet I plugged a mature jackrabbit about 150 yards once using the iron sites and some added elevation Toz-17.
One Remington Yellow Jacket into both shoulders did it.
That the hottest round I dare use in it.
Stingers developed an expanded web area upon firing. Not good.

The great thing about CGN is that you get to hear real folks' opinions about firearms you may not have considered buying before.
The terrible thing about CGN is that you get to hear real folks' opinions about firearms you may not have considered buying before.

I think you know what I mean.

Now I've got one on it's way through the super efficient Canadastan Post system.

I've only had a few different Russian-made firearms, but it's pretty neat that you can buy a single shot 22 built sometime between 1932 and 195x sight unseen and not really worry if it will work or not. No matter how nasty they look, they always (or almost always) still work perfectly.

Single shot 22's are great fun, but especially if you can stretch them out to 100+ metres with irons and some decent accuracy. I did confirm that the one I purchased has a dovetail, so that's always an option to see just how well they shoot.

If you gents haven't seen this video before, give it a watch. Mr. 314299 takes one out to 300 yds.
