Looking for a semi auto sporting 12 gauge information

I shot my brand new 12ga 1100 Sporting for the first time yesterday .... and there was this big smile on my face .... lol ...

Bought it last year when Remington went bankrupt and before the dealers ran out of stock.

What a pleasure it is to shoot that thing .... Soft recoil ...

The Maxus seems to fit me the best of the ones I have tried out. Recoil is minimal however I am using light loads and my shoulder is okay so far. Eventually I will probably have to go to a 28 gauge or 410 but for now I will stay with 12 gauge.

Bonus to the Maxus is I already have lots of extended chokes to fit it.

A Remington 1100 was on my list but I couldn’t find one to try out and compare. I shot one borrowed from a friend a few years ago and liked it. Hard to find them now I believe.

I was really surprised at how "soft" my 1100 shoots.

Yes, they are hard to find ... most dealers are out of stock after one year without supply.

I bought mine from The Gun Dealer last year.... and they have the following still in stock (brand new old stock) .... I just checked ...

  • 1x "Remington Model 1100 Classic Trap"
  • 2x "Remington Model 1100 Competition"

I have a beretta Al391 and it’s shoots very smooth and soft compared to and sx4 for example.
The new version would be be a300.
Otherwise the obvious choice seems to be to wait for the new Mossberg 940 field or goose model.

Good to know. I would like to have compared an 1100 to the Maxus. It may have changed my mind. I may never know for sure.

2old2fly, .... you see ... I consider every new gun purchase to be a "test drive" .... it gives me the opportunity to shoot and try that gun. And if that gun does not "fit" me ... then I am selling it on the EE ... And I consider the loss to be the price for test driving ... :)

The 1100 however, is definitely a keeper .....
