Would there be a way to rechamber a 7.62 x 54R into a 303 british. As for barrel, could the same one be used without rebarrelling it ?

Nope. The 7.62 x 54 is a larger cartridge. Both in case head diameter(.567" vs .540") and shoulder diameter(.452" vs .401"). The .303 is a longer case too.
Even if you rebarrel(a custom barrel) you'd also have to modify the extractor.
There's no advantage to this rechambering either. There's little .303 ball milsurp ammo around. Assuming that is your plan.
The 7.62 x 54 will do everything a .303 will do as well.

In addition, just see what would have to be done to a MN magazine to accept .303 cartridges.
There have been No. 4 rifles converted to 7.62x54R to take advantage of the often very low cost ammunition.

7.62 x 54R to .303

You're wright guys, stupid idea. I just tought, since 7.62 x 54R ammo is hard to find, more common ammo could be used instead.
Thanks for the input

There is a book on cartridge conversion, but I forget the mane. COTW, does mention some possibilities, but it's not the book I can't remember.

Nice thought though, as 7.62x54r is very hard to come by these days...I found this out AFTER I bought an MN!! :D

Mosin's barrels were set back and rechambered for 30'06 in the US. It could be done, but it leaves little meat on the barrel right at the mouth......

"...and rechambered for 30'06 in the US..." Lots of idiotic things have been done, Stateside. That doesn't mean it works nor is it safe. The 7.62 x 54 does not use the .308" bullet that a .30-06 does. Nor is a 7.62 x 54 a rimless cartridge. It doesn't work.
Would you ever consider rechambering a .303 Brit barrel to .30-06? That'd be the same level of stupidity.

I've got one of those conversions. Mine is a "Bannerman" military version in 30/06. They set the barrel back 3/4", rechambered, changed the boltface and performed magazine mods. Yes it is rumoured to be a hand-grenade, yes I have shot it, but no it did not perform an unexpected dissassembly.

Were ther some SVTs that were chopped and turned into .303 about fifteen years ago, "Globco Mohawk", or something along those lines? I understand that they were lee than successful.

I have one of those works of wonder. Bought as a curiosity. I don't plan on taking it grizzly bear hunting.:p:p

Phone Ellwood Epps In orillio Ontario www.ellwoodepps.com. They have crates of military surplus 7.62X54R. Its really cheap. The hunting loads are still made by norma.

No they don't. Believe me, I have called around. Any major dirstributer is either all out and one was selling them for $1.50 per round. I was lucky in that I found 8 boxes of selleier & belliot today, no-corrosive, boxer primer, for $20 a box. Needles to say, I snapped them all up.

CanadaAmmo and Marstar, and most of the rest, are all waiting for the NRCan issues to be resolved and whatever new stuff they get is VERY hard to come by.
