Maybe TI can order some woodworking tools on aliexpress and ship them to Norinco so the guys can actually use tools to cut the wood instead of using their finger nails?

Complete sense. Chinese military issue rifle vs Chinese Russian optic clone.... One works for its intended use, and the other also works for its intended use.... which is airsoft. A Vortex optic made in China ? Sure, i own them. Made in China, but designed, marketed and QC by Americans for the firearms industry.

I thought the cheap vortex were Philippino?

Maybe you can lower your expectations for a $1200 rifle. In the bog picture these are relatively cheap, you get what you pay for.

Just curious why you think this level of quality is acceptable for 1200? Beretta can spit out perfect Italian made shotguns over and over for 1400 with a case and everything. I’m sure their labor cost is higher than China factories.

1200 from almost any other maker gets you something pretty darn nice.

Can anyone recommend a good optic for the type 81, one that's available in Canada?

Having gone the cobra route, I’m not entirely sure I’d do it again. I’d likely buy the TI pic mount and go with a conventional low profile micro dot.

Magnification would be nice but TI stated that the ejection port should be kept clear.

Its probably at best a $300 rifle, due to the situation in Canada they can sell it for $1200, i jumped on the bandwagon early and sold my sks before purchasing the 81.

Is this any better than $100 sks, no but you live and learn, I will keep mine but if anyone expects that they are getting value for money they are kidding themselves, then again i purchased my sks used for $100 in 2011 and they are now selling for 400+

For a reliable, robust, dependable, and magazine fed 7.62X39, what else is there?

The Mini 30 is gone. The M+M 10X is beautifully crafted, but not reliable.

It may not be a piece of art but how many reports do we have of one not working as intended? I can think of one person who had problems with their trigger. That’s it.

Overpaid? I didn’t - The value is there for me.

You can get what you paid by selling it on the EE anyways.

The production costs of a Type 81 are likely very low, maybe $200. No way the manufacture would make them any better for for the price.

The costs to import them into Canada may be low, too, but the market determines the selling price. We are the losers, financially, but we do get to shoot these cheaply made high priced, fun rifles.

Why is everyone so worked up on what this rifle may have cost to produce??

Do we all sit back and cry about kraft dinner costing 17 cents per box to manufacture and for sale for $1.50?

Or the bottle of water you pay $3 dollars for which cost pennies..

I could go on endlessly

Buy it and enjoy it or stfu and move on!
