Hey guys good forum you have running here, lots of info and nice people.

Im Zach Im from New Brunswick Canada, Ive loved guns from before I could walk, my dad would take me hunting every year as long as I can remember, Since I turned 18 I have been interested in getting my PAL but never got around to doing so I hope to do it soon and eventually get my Restricted Licence as well. Quick Question what course do I need to get my pal? Anyways its good to be here lots of info too, and I look forward to receiving, and maybe giving out some information in the future. thanks guys

Go to your local DNR office and get them to add your name to the list for the course or if you feel you already know enough...challenge the test.

It can sometimes be a long wait in N.B., depending on what region you're in, but don't get discouraged waiting. It'll be well worth it once you have that little card. Once you have the PAL done, put your name in for the RPAL right away, that one has a long waiting list in N.B....unfortunately not that much interest.

Welcome to our addiction, it's always nice to hear of more NB'ers getting into it.

Thanks nice to be here, so to the challenge the pal test what should I know? I have already taken and completed the firearms safety course and hunters safety course if that means anything...Also where in NB are you guys from, Im from Moncton, its awsome to be on a forum for once with locals

Pal

Hello,

I'm from Moncton as well. Go to the Rangers station on Champlain past Fishermans Paridise, and buy the gun safety book for $10.00. Also, challange and sign up for the next available course, otherwise you have to take the course for 5 nights at 3 hours per night for $60.00. The tests are usually given every 2 weeks. The test has a few items that are from the book, so you should read it a couple of times. Things like ACTS and PROVE. To write the test it costs $40.00.

There is a written and practical portion. For the practical portion, jst don't point the gun at the ranger or yourself and don't look down the barrel to see if the chamber is empty, use the cleaning rod that is provided if you handle a lever action or auto.

Once you pass ( mostly common sense ), it is as easy as sending $60 in to get your PAL ( you have to send in a passport picture as well ). Wait 4 or 5 weeks, and then start surfing Gun Nuts and start spending.

that sounds alot like the firearms safetly course I went through there probably about 4 years ago, 5 nights 3 hours each, had to take 3 different guns prove there safe etc, past the test got a 100% on it, is this the PAL test? I got a form to send in once I turned 18 (i was 15 at the time) to get my i think would be my PAL or whatever was out at the time, I also did the hunting safety course which was an addiional 2 days to get my conservation licence, so ?

I have the book if you want it.My sis in law lives in Moncton and I could give it to her when she's down next weekend.

no its ok I got the book thanks anyway, I already did the safety course and the test years ago, I just wasnt of age so I had to wait tell I turned 18 to get my PAL, I just dont know what forms to fill out and where to send them to get it
