PAL Wait Time

What do you mean by stamped papers? When I sent in my application, the only things required were the application forms, a passport type photo and my course test papers with final grade.

I think I read that in some provinces after you take the CFSC you do not get a copy back, but are instead mailed a stamped copy ~2 weeks later. In MB we got the copy of the results the same day.

New PAL
Sep 3 mailed in
Sep 10 received
Sep 28 CC charged, application online, completed initial review
Oct 19 called in, saying at final stage, everything is fine.

What does it mean at final stage?

New PAL

Sep 12th Passed CFSC/CRFSC
Oct 4th Mailed in (Took a long time to get signatures lol)

As of Oct 20th can't yet see my status online, I do not know when they've received it (if at all, though I sent with Canada Post so I'm sure it got there eventually), and not yet seen a charge on the credit card.

Soon. "Patience is a Virtue" my mother would day

They received my application September 27th (confirmed by tracking # ) and my credit card was only charged today October 20th I was able to log in for status check for the first time. It seems the typical 2 weeks that everyone was getting between received application and credit card charge is now 3 weeks, maybe the holiday was a factor?

Still waiting, should I call in a week or it's too frequent?

Does anyone know the questions they ask when they call you, your references and spouse?

I got a phone call 10 months after I applied. They asked me
1. For what purpose are you getting a PAL?
2. Where do you work?
3. Have you ever had suicidal thoughts?

It was pretty brief and no issues.

Question for the Ontario people that have recently taken their courses.

I took my Restricted course on October 3rd (just outside of Ottawa).

When should I expect to get my stamped course copies in the mail?

I know when I took my Non-restricted back in November it took almost 8 weeks to get them.

I was hoping that turn around time faster now.

Thanks!

I got mine (both non-restricted and restricted) in five weeks, less than six weeks. So you should get it by mid-November.

I got mine back in about five weeks. I took the RPAL and PAL in August of this year. My instructor said to contact him if we didn’t receive the stamped copies within 4-6 weeks and he would look into why there was such a delay. Hope
you get it soon! The waiting period feels like the longest time of your life!!

That’s for sure! I waited over nine months for my RPAL/PAL and it was a brutal wait! But it was victory at last. :)

I better look into the Pal times after reading 5 or 6 weeks. My wife and son sent their paperwork into Miramachi in April and we haven't heard a word back. Guess I'll be calling tomorrow.

Bc new rpal application my son put in, 90 days so far, what’s up with the bc apps? Ontario apps are going pretty quick by the looks of it. Says this though

“We have completed the initial review of your firearms licence application. If additional information is required, you will be contacted. Please check the status again at a later date."

Did my course in early August and got them (NR and R) in about 2 weeks, I've heard from friends they've been really quick as of lately.

Not sure if I am right. People in Ontario will get the stamped course reports after they pass the courses, it means the provincial CFO knows the applicants passed the courses before they get the application from NB, Ontarians are one step ahead. That's my thought.

Update: Finally got through to the BC CFO today after calling for over a month. The nice lady immediately approved my application for me, my card will be in the mail in a few weeks. 6 months later...

Well another update from my post above. Received my new licence in the mail yesterday. 6 weeks after I was told it was approved. 7 1/2 months after submitting on line...
