I have a sig mk25 with a threaded barrel , from my googling it seems that cuts my holsters selection down by alot. I'm looking for a owb holster ideally I would put it on a qls with a 2.5 drop and maybe run a thigh strap. I have long arms and find that a belt mount sits a bit to high up.
I think I've narrowed it down to safariland with als, Trex rencore, or gcode. Anyone run any of these setups? Looking for pros and cons do I really need a thigh strap

It would be just for range days for now. Don't think I need level 3 retention

In that case, I suggest that you order a JM Custom Kydex RC OWB (and/or an OWB1 and/or an OWB2).

If you remember to write extended, threaded barrel in the order comments, they'll know (to make it correctly).

If you're not actually doing draw and fire practice, then the type of holster really doesn't matter. As long as the gun doesn't fall out when sitting down, squatting, or walking around, etc..

You don't need a thigh strap, but some people like them (looks cool?).

High mount on the waist takes some getting used to, but it tends to be very secure with a well made holster and belt. It felt very unnatural to me at the start but I quickly got used to it. It's very popular for some applications, with good reason.

Safariland 6378 or Safariland 7 series will do you just fine. Even with the treaded barrel. If you need you can trim the end of the holster. It will retain your pistol nicely, won't break the bank and can be found on amazon.ca. QLS can be added as well.

When I was choosing a holster, I had the choice of the IWB Vs OWB Holster. As I know this is one of the most debated topics in concealed carry. It's a matter of personal preference. But each type of holster has its pros and cons. Are there any wearers of these holsters around here?

Firearms are very specialized tools. Holsters are even more specialized.

To even begin to decide which might be better for a given application, one must first know the 'job', or what it is that you want it to do well.

What do you want it to do well?
