Ok, so I'm finally getting a .260. I've got one of the Remington CDL SF Ltd's on order, but I don't want that craptastic walnut stock that comes with the package. It's getting replaced with something...what would you go with?

Synthetic? Laminate? What brand?....I'm open to any suggestions, and am no more partial to one than another. So I want to hear what you have to say.

I'd wait to see how nice the walnut stock is, nothing wrong with a nice stainless fluted barrel and some walnut.

Personally I'm not a McMillan fan, sure they may be good stocks but I dont like the way a lot of them look.

For synthetic I'd go with Bansner or Wildcat, talk to me in a couple months and maybe I'll recommend MPI as well.

I have a McMillan Edge on order.....should be nice and light...it's going on a 338-06 when I get it built..

get them from Rick at 24hourcampfire.

I have one on a 270WSM, The Mcmillan hunter with the edge tecnology is light, feel and fit are perfect and they are completely finished except for bedding. Mine weighed 22oz with a 1'' pad and an LOP of 13.5''.

I have used 5 different manufactures of stocks, the last being a Mc Millan on a custom 700, they are the best of the ones I have used but The best I have seen is the Robertson light hunter model lighter and stronger than any I have and the colours you can get are stunning, embedded not sprayed on like painting.you should look at them before buying. really top notch product and made in Canada, he is a Member on this site

Is there a website for the Robertson stocks? A quick google search came up with people who sell them, but nothing more than that.

I am sufficiently impressed by McMillan that I would buy another without hesitation. I would like to see the Edge before I jumped on that band-wagon, as I think there might be a chance that a standard weight rifle could become unbalanced with a very light stock.
