Do we know if people making the new rules will grant a special grandfathering right to the M1 Garand like I think there is one at the moment ?

What about all those Lee-Enfield 10 round mags ?

- Crack down on high-capacity magazines and require that long gun magazines capable of holding more than 5 rounds be permanently altered so that they can never hold more than 5 rounds
- Ban the sale or transfer of magazines that could hold more than a legal number of bullets, regardless of how they were intended to be used by the manufacturer.

I read during the last electoral campaign that all mags over 5 rounds would be banned even for bolt action rifles!

Any news if the people making rules will grant a special grandfather right for the 8 round Enbloc ? What about those zillions of 10 round Lee-Enfield mags ?

You had to make two thread about this? Nobody knows what the future will bring.

The Liberals also ran on transparency and accountability a few years ago, and it was nothing but a massive pile of steaming manure. Don’t trust or believe anything those morons spout, you can guarantee it is all lies.

Yes I did because it will also affect the Lee-Enfield owners (not a topic in the other group). I own both and love both, would be so sad to have to let them go.

Will not affect LeeEmfield it is bolt action

I wouldn't be so sure. Why would the Lee Enfield be exempt?
As the per the link in post #1, Liberals clearly state:

Crack down on high-capacity magazines and require that long gun magazines capable of holding more than 5 rounds be permanently altered so that they can never hold more than 5 rounds

It was a campaign promise, it is meaningless.

Any pressure they are under to control magazines relates to detachable mags for handguns and semi-auto rifles. If they did decide to tackle the issue, extending it to other guns would cause them way more headaches than even Liberals could justify.

Yep, everything is on the list...if not today..then tomorrow.
The Liberals can justify anything...it's all in the name of 'pubic safety'.
Isn't airsoft on their list also?

It has been a systematic elimination for over 40 years, end goal is to remove all firearms from civilian hands. What they have done and continue to do is take as big a bite as they can every few years. Example, Kim Campbell's C-80 which was scrapped in favour of C-17, then three years later Allan Rock the Liberal justice minister of the day introduced C-68 which we have to this day. C-17 didn't go far enough in there opinion hence the draconian C-68. This is how they operate, they will attempt to eliminate, legislate and throw as many roadblocks up they think they can get away with. Something to keep in mind, everything they've wanted to do in the past, they've accomplished despite our opposition. With these idiots at the helm it is likely to be much worse than in the past. Blair has said he will be taking examples of the current laws of Australia, Great Britain and New Zealand to formulate new laws for Canada. That is terrifying.

More interesting one will be the crap ton of carcano's just brought in to the country. not even sure how you can block those clips to only 5. the entire mechanics of how those clips work relies on 6 cartridges.

The M1 Garand has the same issue. Only solution would be to make a whole new magazine for the firearms.

But that is all speculation and as it stands I am going to sit with what the law currently is, not what it might be.

The Garand is 8 rounds exactly, and it is so specific and (so far) respected that the law explicitly excludes it from the ban (the Lee-Enfield as well):
